    Can anyone please explain this?

I am relatively new to testing, and am still trying to work out what raises my blood sugar, so am testing pre and post every meal. Today I tested at 12.30, just before I planned to eat my lunch. It was 6.1. However, I then had to go and deal with a work crisis which meant that I didn't eat...

    How nice is cauliflower rice...

I don't rate the packet stuff, butTesco do "Cauliflower couscous "in their prepared veg aisle. It's just grated cauliflower, but saves the hassle of washing up the food processor. I've just had two tanlespoons in a stir fry with chicken, courgettes and half a red pepper. Yum. It's also...

    New to this....totally lost!

Hello AllanE. I'm very new to this as well, but my GP did give me some good advice (but no meds!). There is someone on here, @daisy1, who will post some very helpful advice for you. I don't feel able to give you advice, but I can tell you that when I was diagnosed (7 weeks ago) I read lots...

Totally confused - type 2 diabetes

Hello I'm very new to this, so I'm sure that lots of people with much more experience will be along to give you good advice, but all I can say on the carbs issue is to read about it and then test. If your blood sugars go up when you've eaten carbs, then that indicates that you should probably...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

My morning levels are always high as well, even when I've gone to bed on a relatively "low" level. I'm new to all this and still trying to work out what's causing it. There are some good posts about the "dawn phenomenon" and lots of people took the time and trouble on here to reassure me that...

Type 2s: What have you eaten today?

Four grandchildren to mind must keep you very busy! Thanks for you words of encouragement. I know I'm in for the long haul, but I also know it's manageable to eat this way even if it's very tempting not to!!

Type 2s: What have you eaten today?

Hi @amgrundy, thanks for replying, that is so helpful. Your starting point sounds very like mine - I was also diagnosed on New Years Eve! I'd had a random blood test a week earlier as part of a "well woman" check up, which came back at 18 :(. I then had an HBA1C which came back as 97 on New...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Back up to 8.2 this morning:(. I did have a small bowl of raspberries with cream last night after my gym class, so don't know if that's affected it.

Type 2s: What have you eaten today?

Hi @amgrundy, those are really good readings. Are you on meds or is it just diet?

    Type 2 Life

Thank you @liam1955. I think I'm almost completely better now, and blood sugar readings are coming down. I've just got home from work, will have some dinner and then head to the gym.

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

7.2 at 7am. That's the lowest reading I've had for a week. Hopefully it means that the cold is finally out of my system.

    Type 2 Life

Hi @liam1955. My FBG was better this morning, at 7.2. I also had a better reading just before lunch of 6.3 which is the lowest it's been since my cold started. Hopefully things are back on track now. I skipped the gym last week as was feeling lousy and really just crawled into bed every...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

9.8. I just don't understand why it's so high, and am feeling very down about it.

    Codefree glucose meter readings

Thanks @Oldvatr and @Bluetit1802. That makes sense. I will make my dad aware, although his readings are usually 10+ as he doesn't follow the advice given to him. There was an accident in our village recently when a driver crashed his car after passing out at the wheel, it turned out he was...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

8.9 at 7am. The reading last Saturday morning was 5.8. Still feeling the effects of a heavy cold. I am taking @Stallen advice and not stressing about it, and keeping my fingers crossed that the numbers drop again once the cold has finally gone.
