Type 1: Extremely high blood sugar levels

An infection would be my bet. But get some brand new bolus and basel insulin ASAP (like now) and follow sick day rules.

Oh I remember. Pork scratchings. But not too many!

    Hello

To be honest I don't think there is much you can eat without giving some thought to the diabetes. Cucumber, lettuce..... Hmmmm there must be something better......

    Hello

Hi. I don't know about eating as often as you like but I find nuts are a good snack which have a low impact on blood sugars.

If you're worried take her to the docs. You know her best.

    toddler thirsty

You could, yes. There's probably nothing wrong with her but least it might put that fear to bed. I'm dad to a 2.5 year old and have had exactly the same worries as you.

    Type 1: Tips?

Don't let your insulin overheat n the sun and be careful of using hotel room fridges in case they are too cold. If you're in Europe get your ehic card.

    Freestyle Libre...any advice?

I've been through 7 sensors in total. All have had reasonably accurate readings. 1 fell off after 11 days which Abbott replaced without quibble and I knocked another off after 10 days. The others have stuck very well. If I'm in a situation likely to knock a sensor off I now stick some rocktape...

    Blood Glucose Monitors.

If you're type 1 you'll get one for free. If you're type 2 you might get one for free. Have a look at the various manufacturers websites. But type 2s don't normally get testing strips on prescription. So my advice, look for the meter with the cheapest test strips. A codefree I believe will cost...

Am I being unreasonable to cancel outpatient appointments ?

I'm also self employed. I always try and get the first appointment of the day which means I can still do the best part of a days work.

Bloodsugar rise after taking insulin but didn't eat yet

Yep just the same. As soon as I wake up my blood sugar starts to rise. I don't normally have breakfast but do take 3u of novorapid as soon as I open my eyes to stop it.

    Re- using lancets

If you do things by the book you should use a new lancet for every test. However many people including myself reuse them to varying degrees.

A conversation between a doctor and me

Just wanted to say not the docs are diabetes teams are bad. Mine are fantastic. They don't recommend a lchf diet but if you choose to adopt it they will support you. Personally I am just a 'lower carber'. I've never been reprimanded for it either.

Type 1: Brain usage and variable blood sugar

I also reckon that working the brain has a impact on blood sugar. I've also noticed that when having a migraine attack my blood sugar will generally be slightly lower than expected.

    Night time basal/DP

I have similar. I found moving my nighttime basal shot to the last thing before bed 2330 to 2400 ish seemed to work. And taking a small bolus first thing on waking helped smooth things.

    Free blood glucose monitor

Not sure what you saw but if you're type 1 and will be getting strips on prescription have a look at the manufacturers websites. Accu Chek, Lifescan etc and they will send you one for free.

    Everything morning.

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. Looking for advise please. The picture shows a typical picture of my overnight and morning BGs. Nice and flat until 6 and then boom! It's takes me until lunchtime to get back on a even keel. The only way I've found to stop it is a small dose of...

    Stop finger pricking!

You can use the Glimp app on a android phone to squeeze a few more days out of a Libre sensor. It's worked for me but it seems to have ruined some people's sensors. Use at your risk.
