    Struggling at the moment

Hi. What a pain but try not to worry too much and wait and see what the specialists say. I was diagnosed with maculopathy 6 or 7 years ago but now with good blood sugar control and probably a bit of luck it's settled and I'm back to yearly eye checks. I was having checks every 3 months for a...

    Vitamins

I take a daily high strength vitamin d. I swear this has made a big improvement in my overall health and wellbeing. I also take fish oil and turmeric. I'm not sure if they do any good but reckon they can't hurt.

Libre predicted HbA1c versus actual HbA1c

Dexcom / xdrip estimated 52 actual was 48. A nice surprise!

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

Just got myself a 6.5% / 48. A personal best for me in 24 years of T1. My first test since I started HCL with a Tslim 3 months ago.

    Medtronic closed loop

Not that I use Medtronic anymore but I see various Facebook groups getting increasingly frustrated with similar problems you describe. Hopefully Medtronic will have their new sensor available soon.

    Diabetic glucose testing kit

Most likely a cost issue. I think the Accu-Check cassette system is considerably more expensive than the cheaper brands. They're all pretty much of muchness in terms of accuracy. But there's no harm in asking if you can keep using your preferred system. Or use a Libre or Dexcom instead?

Difficulty of honeymoon period vs. After with tpe 1 diabetes (full carbohydrate counting), differences and difficulty of both

Long may the honeymoon continue. I remember, 20+ years ago not needing insulin for about 10 weeks in my type 1 honeymoon . It was great and convinced myself it was all a bit of a mistake and I was cured. Inevitably my pancreas gave out quite abruptly, insulin requirements increased rapidly then...

    Advice for starting on Tresiba

Hi. I switched from Lantus to Levemir then finally to Tresiba. From what I remember the Lantus to Levemir switch was 1 to 1. The Levemir to Tresiba required slightly less overall insulin once things had settled. Probably best to start with a little less than what you've been using and work...

    Insulin increase after illness

Hi. Yep, any infection can raise sugar levels. Sometimes out of all proportion to the illness itself. Viruses can linger long after the feeling bad stage is over. However 3 months is a long time. Have you tried a different batch or some new insulin? Gained weight recently or any other life...

Should I switch L2 to Dexcom?

Why not try Dexcom ONE? If you give them a call and ask nicely they'll send you a trail pack. I find Dexcom more accurate and only leaves a tiny mark when removed compared to the L2.

    Very confused

Hi. Just to clear the confusion, what are your bolus and basal insulins called? :-).

Dosing for caffeine - 3g per shot ?

Good news on the pump start! I drink literally litres of black coffee everyday. I never bolus for it and don't see any impact up or down on my blood sugars. But we're all different. Did you get a compatible CGM funded along with the pump?

Libre 2 has some strange errors

Give Abbott a call. They'll replace faulty sensors.

    Omnipod is awesome

It's not irrational to fear handing over your life to bits of medical tech loosely attached to your body! I think CGMs just work better for some people than others. I use a G6 in combination with a Tslim and I'm now very happy to turn over at least 60% of day to day blood sugar management to...

I need to reduce my Tresiba (again!), and it's a pain in the proverbial. And nighttime hypos.

Yay! The world looks a whole lot better after a good nights sleep!

    Nova Rapid V Fiasp

It's been a long time since I used NovoRapid so I can't really compare very well. But I will say that Fiasp seems to become a lot less effective with higher blood sugars. When between 4 - 9 it works quickly and predictable. Anything above 13 I will need considerably more. Like 100% above my...

I need to reduce my Tresiba (again!), and it's a pain in the proverbial. And nighttime hypos.

Diabetes is just odd. I've had days where my insulin needs just drop for no reason. It's easier now I'm on a closer loop insulin pump but looking back at the data I see some periods where my pump has not delivered any insulin for hours and my blood sugar has been hovering around 4 and I can't...
