    Blood Monitor Advice

    Lancets can be reused more than once, I use them for 2 weeks at the time. (Make sure no one else is using your lancets!) I use the SD Codefree from Amazon, because it is one of the cheapest available for test strips, if you can't get them from the NHS.

    nhs - no more blood meters for newbies :{

    Same here, (Type 2) It is a matter of economics. The NHS is over stressed, almost broke. I have bought my own meter "Codefree" from Amazon, because this is one of the cheapest for spare test strips (£ 16 for 100). lancets you can reuse, I change them once a month. I need to test, especially...

    Re: Type 2's : What was your fasting blood glucose in a morn I guess that the liver dumps glucose into the system to get you up and ready for the day. My readings are between 6 and 7 first thing in the morning. But I seldom measure before breakfast.

    Being a relatively new to the diabetic forum, diagnosed Type 2 in June I keep my BG levels almost within limits, keep measuring 4/6 times a day. I would like to know how people are calculating their carb intake? Do you write down and calculate each item of food you are eating? For example, I...

    Blood Glucose Monitoring

    Just got my testing kit delivered, made a test 3 hours after "breakfast" which is always the same every day, 3 spoonfuls of porridge oats in the microwave, and a cup of tea. OK, first test: before meal 6.3 and 2 hours after 8.5 which I think within limits. At least I know what's going on.

    Hi I am recently diagnosed Type 2 diabetes, on 3 x 500mg Metformin. I too purchased a CodeFree monitor, + 100 lancets, and 50 strips £25 for the lot from Amazon.co.uk My GP thinks that it is not necessary to test my BG, which I think is in line with NHS money savings. :eh: However, how...
