    Addison's Disease - Addisonian Crisis

I bet you didn't sleep for a week after all the extra steroids - its only now, three days later than I feel like I am getting anywhere close to being back to normal. I assume you have emergency injection kits at home? I was diagnosed aged 19 with Addison's but it was not until I lost my sister...

    Addison's Disease - Addisonian Crisis

This weekend I suffered my second Addisonian Crisis - my first since being diagnosed with Diabetes. I first thought I was suffering a hypo but a BS reading quickly ruled out that theory. I wondered if there were any other diabetics who had also had this experience? The huge amount of...

    Emergency Information Tags and Cards

I has an SOS bracelet for years but it was always so difficult to get all the information on that very small piece of paper. I've been wearing a Medic Alert bracelet now for over 10 years but this does require an annual subscription. Tap2tag has no subscription and can be scanned by a phone...

    Quick Hypo Snack

Surely chocolate would boost blood sugar? I Don't buy fruit juice so it's not something which would be at hand

    Quick Hypo Snack

What is the quickest way to fix a hypo? Last night I had a hypo 2 hours after a reading of 8.3. I had to get out of bed to test and binge until I was sure I had moved my level from 3 to a safer level. After a Go-Ahead Yoghurt Break, a handful of dry roasted nuts, half a bag of Freddo faces...

    In Case of Emergency

My god I had to check to see if I'd written this. What are the odds of someone else wearing a gold medic alert bracelet who also has Addison's disease, is allergic to aspirin and diabetic!

    Holiday insurance

I use Medici Travel - I have many pre existing medical conditions which I need to declare but I find the prices very reasonable. Take a look and see what you think.

    GO MAD DAY your thoughts

I often feel like "having a day off" from being diabetic but I know that this would only make me feel guilty as well as sick, tired, grumpy and lethargic long after the party was over. Far better to allow yourself the odd special treat instead then walk home to burn off the excess carbs! Sent...

how do you feel AFTER a hypo

Yes I feel really **** for hours after a hypo. I usually feel really drained and have a banging headache. If I hypo during the night then I feel awful most of the next day and feel really tired and hungry. Luckily it doesn't happen often but it's awful when it does. Sent from the Diabetes...

    Why did I Hypo?

Thanks for your reply I will bear this in mind, maybe I need to think about doing the same when I have the occasional pizza treat. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Why did I Hypo?

I was told that Novorapid starts working within 10 mins so if I injected 20 mins before eating then I may hypo. I was also told that it's done its job after 2 hours which is why I always test 2 hours after injecting. I didn't realise it could carry on working longer. It's not often I have...

    Why did I Hypo?

Before evening meal of pasta bake and garlic bread BG was 5.6. Two hours after post meal insulin dose of 14 units Novorapid BG was 8.9. Two.hours later hypo at 3.2 - what happened? This morning I have a headache and feel drained having slept really badly. I've had toasted crumpets for breakfast...

    Sciatica problem...

I suffer from sciatica from time to time although a lot less since I had surgery 4 years ago to ease a prolapsed disc. An MRI will show if this is your problem. Rheumatologist may offer you a kenalog injection which would probably help but may in fact make your diabetes worse - so ask questions...

    Still floundering and fed up!!

This is correct, I have multiple auto immune conditions LADA was the latest one diagnosed in Feb 2011. I was immediately given insulin and metformin as managing by diet alone was no longer working, although I had been warned it would happen eventually. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Diabetes friendly food while travelling

I know exactly what you mean, if I have a sandwich made with a baguette then insulin is needed or I feel very dizzy, drowsy and drugged. Testing my BG two hours after one such incident gave a result of 18.5! Tend to avoid such sandwiches now or plan to take the insulin to cover it Sent from...

Similar experiences - suddenly dropping blood sugars

Yes Addisons should be considered. I was diagnosed with it aged 19, and diagnosed with LADA in 2011 after a period of managing my diabetes with diet only. I often would have hypo type incidents if either my steroids were taken late or if I had been ill or under stress as in these instances I...
