Not sure whether it's the right forum, but I'm trying to get annual holiday insurance that will cover my T2 diabetes and nor cost an arm or a leg. Needs to cover Europe including Cyprus and some reasonable activities. I'm more interested in the quality of the insurance than cutting corners. I've looked at Insure and Go, but am not sure how it compares.

Not much cheaper to be honest. Try and see if you have free travel insurance with your bank first. If you're on less than 3 medications you should be ok and it might not be as dear as mine. they ask you about high blood pressure as well and if you smoke etc.

I've rang mine RBS royalties gold, it used to be free as far back as last years holiday because of this 3 meds rule. But because i'm on about 6 now, 4 related to diabetes its going to cost me £70 extra. I did a quote on insure and go and it was £65 so not much cheaper and usually you get better cover via your bank. Plus i've had investigations done that will lead to operation procedures, but only gynae and carpel tunnel which in book i dont need cover for, and they wont uncover my throxine either so at least everything is covered. I'll just have £70 less spends in Turkey and have to get 2 holidays out of one years payment.

single trip was about £36 through insure and go.

Be aware that some companies assume statins are being prescribed for high cholesterol so increase the premium; same for Ramipril where they assume it's for high BP whereas it may be prescribed to protect the kidneys

Yes they asked me about statins because I'd already declared them previously I said I've stopped taking them. So they didn't get the yes / no answers they quite wanted lol.

I have recently purchased holiday insurance from payingtoomuch.com. My hubby has epilepsy, diabetes (no treatment) high blood pressure and cholesterol - I have sleep apnoea, diabetes (insulin) high blood pressure (5 pills daily) high cholesterol and I.B.S. and I have paid £74 for 30 days - I am very pleased with this price. Do not have any activities to be covered :). All the best.

I use Medici Travel - I have many pre existing medical conditions which I need to declare but I find the prices very reasonable. Take a look and see what you think.

I use Sainsburys, used them for years. Very good in terms of premium, we have annual worldwide cover for family. Diabetes wasn't a problem, husbands back and neck conditions not an issue either. The premiums were comparable to any "non-diabetic" family.

BUT most importantly when we needed to claim for entire holiday cancelled at last minute they paid out in full (including airport parking etc which we booked separately) with no problem at all, even rang to check our son was feeling better!

They also have a higher cancellation amount than many policies, some only cover up to £2000 or so.
