This 8 week 800 calorie a day thing

Just keep going...Its taken ( I would imagine) a few years for you to get to being T2, so a few weeks is nothing in comparison. How's the exercise going Jam? I've binned the walking and spending a few minutes spinning up the exercise bike and pushing a few weights. Your bloods do seem to be...

Oh I agree but our endocrine system micromanages us usually, except when there is a problem. I've only taken a morning reading and it was fine and I will take one tonight. Pls don't think that I'm constantly checking my bloods...that's hard to do while checking my blood pressure, weight, height...

It might not be but at least I'm not messing about with strips, lances etc. the goal will be a permanent monitor, like a skin patch.

    Blurred vision

If only A and E was solely used for just emergencies these days.. That's another story though.

A great post John. I'm having a glucowise as soon as they are proven and released.

....I know..and agree totally. However, I can't ever beat myself up for keeping an eye on myself ;-) The first reading threw me a little, hence the re-test. It's all relative though, as at least it wasn't in double digits, I suppose. You are quite right about the good numbers though I did a test...

The caresens isn't so brill...just checked on the site. 99% within 15% at a mmol level above 5.5., with 95% within 0.83mmol at a reading below 5.5mmol. Basically, you take pot luck.

I fully understand however you are using the average and that's as good as any other way TBH. I'm taking the raw figures 6.1 +/- 10% = 5.4 or 6.6. Likewise, 6.8 could as easily be 6.2 or 7.4. So the range on the two readings could be 5.4 to 7.4 ( not using a calculator) I'm looking for the...

Yep.... Worrying doesn't help. Accurate monitoring does,

Yep. In this respect, how on earth do those diabetics who require insulin get on?

Agreed though I do question your figure...and a proper blood test would be the only way. however the variance is approx' 10%, albeit on a lowish figure. If we use the range and took it as read that the meter will under/over measure equally then my BG could easily be 5.5. or 7.4mmol At times...

A man with two watches never knows the correct time.....

Tonight I tested my BG and it was at 6.8mmol, this seemed a tad too high ( 3hrs PP but a few cups of tea, with SS milk and no sugar), I immediately tested with a fresh lance and hit a reasonable 6.1mmol. So, what to do ?? Keep in testing until I get the figure I want, ignore the higher or the...

    2 hour PP readings.

I deliberately didn't move, save to wash my hands for the tests and a 'comfort break". I did also re-test as I didn't believe my reading and it was a gnat's tinkle out from the first one. You have hit on something though. Perhaps the fats in the milk had an effect?

I had the opposite problem with Met, chronic diarrhoea. My Dr suggested that I use Bisto. It never cured it but it thickened it up a bit. :-)

    Nice....

    2 hour PP readings.

Have you ever thought how a meal with carbs with differing GI values can effect you? ( not that I would advocate a lot of carbs anyway) The other night I did a deliberate carb binge (got shouted at ) and my bloods were totally normal by the 3 hour mark ( and at the 9ish level after 2) Then at 4...

Yeh, I've seen an advert for DB UK, think it was on one of the more specialist sat channels...not Babecast ( or whatever it's called) ;-)

Though we are still on the upside of the reverse bathtub. If T2, was a 'sexy' disease' then we would have adverts ( though they are now happening) with strap lines like " don't die of ignorance" etc.
