Feeling overwhelmed by this disease lately. Crazy unpredictable sugars, and gastroparesis all make it so much harder to stay positive. I'm getting counselling and on anxiety meds but doesn't seem to help much and even Doctors don't truly understand . Only all of you who live with this disease...

Yes BGs seem ok. Only see the backflow in the legs. ?? Not sure if that makes a difference. Tougher skin maybe ?

Yes sugars seem fine. No difference to when I used the 6mm or when I don't see any backflow. I guess it's such a minimal amount anyway. :)

I find now that I use the 4mm needles for my levemir injections in my legs instead of 6mm I get less lumps and bruises but there is always a bit of insulin left on the skin when I remove the needle. I know this "backflow" is normal but I never saw it when I used the 6mm. I always hold the...

Thanks. Yes I'm an Aussie as well. There are far worse stings than a Dexcom or needle. ;) Still annoying though.

I've been using Dexcom G5 for a few years and rarely have one that stings when I insert it. Today it really hurt and hours later it's still stinging. Seems to be reading ok though. Anyone else had a 'stinger' and did the pain ease eventually ??

I've had that happen quite a few times now. I've even posted on here before in a panic when it happened. It always turned out ok. My sugars were fine - I did check more often though after it happened. The lump and bruise I got after took a few days to go away.

I'm very underweight so a bit of weight gain would be ok with me. Did your weight go up because you were hungry on it or was your food intake the same ?? Glad you found it a good antidepressant also.

I'm really really underweight due to gastroparesis so to be honest weight gain is what I need right now.

I've been prescribed a new antidepressant/ anxiety med called Avanza (mirtazapine) . Has anyone been on this ? How did you find it ? Thanks Sharrryn

Thanks for your reply. I was on the drug domperidone for gastroparesis which helped but had to stop as it gave me a heart arythmia. I am seeing a new dietician who deals with gastroparesis patients soon who will trial me on a liquid diet in an attempt to relieve symptoms.

Oh I like that idea. I need one of those as I think I rotate ok but in reality probably don't as I get a lot of lumps from injecting into recent site areas again ;)

Any tips for gastroparesis pain ? It has me in tears today. Stomach feels full of fluid and I'm nauseous. Had Zofran and heat pack but it's not helping much :(:(

For the ladies with gastroparesis. Do you find your symptoms are worse just before your period ??

I'm reassured to know you find similar peak times as me. I just need to be aware of my sugars around the peak times.

Yes. It's still is a fairly mini peak but depending on my sugars before I sometimes need extra snack. It's still a good insulin.

I find levemir a good basal insulin but do notice a slight drop in sugars around 6 hours after taking it and then again around 10 hours. I take it twice day. Is it known to have a slight peak which might account for the drop ?
