What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

For tonight's dinner I'm thinking of some kind of chicken pumpkin coconut curry concoction. Have 3 chicken breasts to use up along with some frozen diced pumpkin.

    LCHF and depression

I can see what you mean already. Husband is laid up right now with a knee injury - his leg is all bandaged up. While I'm running around doing this that and the other looking healthy enough on the outside but wondering what's going on inside.

    LCHF and depression

Hi, yes, I've had depression before, starting from when I was a teenager. I've taken anti-depressants, even saw a psychiatrist once. I've done a lot of comfort eating during periods of depression, or stress. That's in addition to just being greedy... Congrats on the weight loss!

    LCHF and depression

It's weird, I do feel that I'm running on "cleaner" fuel, feel a bit "lighter", etc but there is also some tiredness. I suppose some tweaks are in order, especially once the meter arrives. Yes, the actual confirmation in the form of a diagnosis, when it comes, is going to hit hard. I will feel...

    LCHF and depression

Yes it is a little bit. Since last November I've been back and forth to the doctor's for various small issues and was just getting over the latest one when I got the blood test results that I'll think will get me diagnosed (no doubt following a second test). This will no doubt trigger another...

    LCHF and depression

I think I'm like you with hormones. I'll stop taking it and find another solution. Life's too short and there's enough going wrong with me as it is! Thanks for the link and I'll try upping my fats.

    LCHF and depression

I suffer from one of the other symptoms on the list + one which isn't on the list. I think I'll stop taking it as of this evening and see if my mood improves. I did take a combined pill for a year twenty years ago which coincided with a massive period of depression. I never made the link at the...

    LCHF and depression

I wasn't sure whether it was allowed to comment on medication but it's fine by me :-) I'm hoping that it is the Pill and not the diet.

    LCHF and depression

Hi all, In the very likely scenario of a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes (I have my blood test results and need to get an appointment with the doc to discuss them) I've been eating LCHF for the past couple of weeks. Within the same period I've also started feeling very depressed and weepy which is...

I've just received my latest blood test results...

Hi, I'm not living in the UK so maybe it's not the same measurement system? I'm not sure how to make conversions, maybe someone more experienced can help? Edit: oops, didn't see @Clivethedrive 's post!

I've just received my latest blood test results...

Hi, thanks for the advice, I was wondering what kind of schedule to use for testing. I should receive the meter in a few days. You mention Dawn Phenomenon, which reminds me of a previous blood test I had where the HbA1c was OK but the fasting glucose (taken in the morning of course) was too...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

B: fromage blanc with raspberries / coffee and cream L: vegetable soup and crustless quiche lorraine for this evening: roast chicken thigh, roquefort sauce, salad (actually starting to crave it now I'm eating creamier, fattier food) and probably also some cooked veg Instead of concentrating on...

Has LCHF/diabetes changed where/how you shop?

It's good to be able to pick and choose from a range of shops to get the best bargains, the best produce and also the best variety :-)

Teach me to be a grown-up!

Hot chocolate (if you're ok to drink milk)? Break a few squares into a mug, cover with milk, microwave in short bursts until the chocolate has softened, whisk with a "magic spoon" until blended, whisk in the remainder of the milk and microwave again until hot! Experiment with flavourings such...

Has LCHF/diabetes changed where/how you shop?

I can see what you mean about food waste, I'm buying less and more often in order to get the freshest stuff. Thanks for the tip about the crackers, I do love me some cheese :-) Congrats on your weight loss!

Has LCHF/diabetes changed where/how you shop?

Thank God for the internet, I say! I managed to find tomato powder and liquid smoke in the shops but I know for the various spices used in Indian food I linke I either have to order them online or get them in Paris. There is so much choice in general, we're very fortunate!

Has LCHF/diabetes changed where/how you shop?

Yes, I think in the beginning a bit of experimentation is required! I've always turned my nose up at avocados but maybe I'll like them. It was the case with olives (the green ones at least)!

I've just received my latest blood test results...

Hi, thanks for thinking of me! I can no longer go to the doctor today because my husband had an accident last night (he's learning to ride a motorbike) and did his knee in. He's not very mobile so I can't leave him for the moment. I'll have to try and go in a few days. In the meantime I'm...
