What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Hi, No, I don't have coconut oil - is it the solidified stuff that comes in a pot? I'm not sure how to get hold of grass-fed meat and dairy products in France as I don't think I've ever seen it mentioned on the packagings. I did a quick google and someone said that in the summer cows are...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

It'll be interesting to see what I can and can't tolerate, that is for sure. The omelette is great with cheddar, I'm personally not such a fan of other cheeses in omelettes. Those fat bombs make me think of ferrero rocher ;-) Thanks for the tip, I will check them out. I once made cashew nut...

I've just received my latest blood test results...

I'm well out of the ranges indicated in the test results so I guess I'll be diagnosed soon. I think in France too they base diagnosis on two fasting tests.

Has LCHF/diabetes changed where/how you shop?

Thanks for the tips! I do have some nuts and chocolate to hand which are very useful!

I've just received my latest blood test results...

To be honest without a HbA1c I'm a bit lost. I can see that the above results are clearly not good at all. Seeing the doc on Friday and I'll see what he says. So far I haven't been diagnosed type 2 but I imagine that that will change now. I will definitely get a meter now.

I've just received my latest blood test results...

Apologies in advance if this belongs in another forum! I've just received my latest blood test results: Fasting glycaemia 1.52 g/L and 8.44 mmol/L. I don't have a HbA1c Guess that's it then :-(

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Hi Susi, Thanks :-) To be honest with you I haven't bought a meter yet so I don't know for sure what I can tolerate but I figure that for the moment an orange or apple is better than the sugar bombs I used to chuck down my neck. Right now I'm just trying to cut down on the obvious baddies and...

Has LCHF/diabetes changed where/how you shop?

Have you tried blending your own specialty flours in a food processor? I've never really bothered with avocados but maybe I should give them a whirl! I love shopping (alas) and am a sucker for exotic things in jars ;-)

Has LCHF/diabetes changed where/how you shop?

Yes, milk definitely tastes sweet! The soup is a good idea. So far I've had shop-bought frozen soup: the tomato version looks ok but the ratatouille-veg one was a mistake as it contains aubergines and courgettes fried in sunflower oil before being blended. I'll avoid that one in the future or...

Has LCHF/diabetes changed where/how you shop?

Hi, I've never heard of that and it makes sense. I can see underneath your post that you have type 2? So you get excessive highs AND lows? I'm definitely doing a lot better on low carb although I have to be careful not to let my energy levels run too low in the late afternoon.

Has LCHF/diabetes changed where/how you shop?

It's great you managed to turn things around! I had an apple yesterday and then an orange this morning which I also found very sweet. I suppose when our tastebuds aren't being bombarded with added sugar we can distinguish natural sweetness very easily.

Has LCHF/diabetes changed where/how you shop?

I see where you're coming from. And I'm starting to become a little bit more choosy about what I'm willing to break my diet for. I've been an emotional eater all my life, starting from teenagehood where I'd smuggle bags of sweets into my room and binge on them on the sly, to university where I...

Has LCHF/diabetes changed where/how you shop?

That's a good way of approaching it! Some of the shop-bought cakes are far too sweet. A few years ago I bought a "caterpillar" chocolate cake from one of the big supermarkets and it was digustingly sweet, not enjoyable at all.

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Last night's dinner was veal blanquette with a minuscule serving of rice. Same for tonight but the rice will be replaced with green beans. I've been testing the Aromhuset sparkling water flavours which someone mentioned on this site. They're not bad.

Has LCHF/diabetes changed where/how you shop?

I used to binge on Iceland's cheeseburgers ;-) Frozen veg is great especially stir-fry veg mixes.

Lidl and Holland and Barrett are great!

Has LCHF/diabetes changed where/how you shop?

I'm trying to visualise the cake and choc as little timebombs or something. But it is hard to resist them sometimes. I'm really aware now that if I go a long time without eating, that's when I'm likely to crack (nothing new there, think most people are the same) because also I get too tired to...
