    Type 1 Medical alert necklace/bracelet

Thanks @Snapsy! I never used to wear any ID until my brother yelled at me after a friend of his had a close call. I had to go on a bit of a mission to find something I liked! Love your photo by the way, it's beautiful, I hope you have it framed somewhere.

Type 2 Are you ashamed to have Type 2 Diabetes?

It's important for people to say which type they are because the treatment and advice is often different (all the LCHF and exercise in the world won't get me off insulin!). I definitely think nobody should feel ashamed or guilty. Most people just don't know about diabetes other than what they...

    Type 1 Medical alert necklace/bracelet

Have a look on Etsy, there are a variety of bracelets and necklaces where the seller will engrave medical information. I got this silver bangle from there. It has the medical symbol on the outside and my specific info engraved inside. (the symbol is clearer in real life than in the picture!)

insulin crab ratio getting worse very fast

Also try not to be too hard on yourself, sometimes diabetes does just do something strange. 17 years in and I still have those days but I am still here :-) @ickihun suggestion of using your current meal as a marker is good one. Try something else and apply the same ratio If you are worried...

insulin crab ratio getting worse very fast

@catapillar is right, the correct dose of insulin is one that covers you for the food you have eaten. There is zero shame in needing more than 10 units for a meal (I am looking at you the dinner I just ate!), and it is wrong of your doctor to say that (where did he even get 10 units from?) ...

Type 1 for 41 years. Feels like I am losing my way.

I found that meeting up face to face with other diabetics really helped. It made me feel less out there on my own just to have someone else say "yeah me too". My friends and family are all quite happy to listen to me talk but I always felt they never really got it. The mutual support really...

Call me cynical but.....I wonder what / who the drug companies have influenced and how

Bashing drug companies is easy to do but I never hear anyone suggesting how it should be different. No one can afford to work for free, all those scientists, factories, the delivery drivers who take your medicines to the pharmacy have their own bills to pay. You must have a very skewed view of...

Stupid weather messing with insulin sensitivity

Oh man, I feel your pain! When I was on MDI hot weather would always make me go high. This year was my first summer on the pump, and much to my surprise I now find the heat makes me go low. Who knows what exciting adventures autumn will bring!

    Diabetes, psoriasis/dry skin and makeup

You could try putting a bit of eyeshadow powder on top as well if you wanted to do like a halo effect or darken up the outer edge! I love playing with make up!

    Diabetes, psoriasis/dry skin and makeup

I can't offer much on how to help your skin, but how about trying cream eyeshadow rather than powder? Because of the consistency they might sit better on your eyelids. I haven't tried blending them but I can't see why it wouldn't work. I've got some from L'Oréal and NYX which I like and people...

Any advice for first time pumper. .

I also found I am way more sensitive to stuff now. Hot weather always used to cause my BG to go up but now I notice it makes me more insulin sensitive. Also I get less insulin sensitive in the days before my period which was again something I hadn't seen before. So I guess my point is be on the...

Any advice for first time pumper. .

I won't repeat what others have said so here are my additional thoughts: I found the easiest way to wear my pump was to get a belt rather than clipping it onto my trousers/skirt (on my bra is also good and not at all as noticeable as I worried it would be). I found it easier to ignore during...

    Sympathy please!

Thanks @Juicyj and @Tracyann35 glad to know I am not the only one who has these moments! Just spiked to 18.2, 2 hours after a lunch of a bowl of soup and a tiny slice of toast so I will definitely take your advice and change this one out too, hey ho.

    Sympathy please!

Thanks Ann, sometimes it's nice just to be able to have a vent to people who understand what you are going on about!

    Sympathy please!

I am feeling sorry for myself, and am unashamedly looking for sympathy! After a day of trying to bring down a mega high, I finally managed to get my BG to a reasonable enough level (10.0) that I could go to bed last night. Then I woke up at 2:30am with a reading of 2.7  and on my way...

Are we talking diets or religion? ( or maybe its all about fear?)

I agree! I am genuinely happy when people have found something that works well for them and I can understand the urge to "convert the unbelievers". But as everyone has experienced: my diabetes is different to yours, and: mileage may vary. There is already enough guilt associated with this...

    accu chek insight

@IceLover you inspired me to make a video of using the handset! As I was equally frustrated with the lack of reviews when I was trying to research it. That way you can judge if it would be a problem or not for you. It is here:

    accu chek insight

I have had the insight since April and I love it :-) I haven't had any alarms or errors so far. I like: the fact it is small and looks a bit more sleek and modern than the others I was offered, that it has a remote so I can tuck it away under my clothes and use it without having to pull it out...

    My mindset/problems

All joking aside good on you for recognising the problem and wanting to do something about it. Forums and talking to other diabetics are great resources and even just places to vent.

    My mindset/problems

Start small and work your way up rather than getting frustrated if you can't fix it all at once, once you see improvements it is motivating to make more! Start by trying to do your injections regularly. Do you eat meals with your fiancé (congratulations by the way!) could she help you with...
