    guess your BS readings?

From what i've read it takes 3-4 hours to start having an effect and peak activity is 9-14 hours, also read that the more you take the longer it lasts. I have read that you 'should' see the effecs of dose changes after 24 hours but also read it is more like 3 days as it builds up in your system...

Oh i am glad that Khaleb seems to be settling down again :D Yes, i knew that snack and injection yesterday afternoon was a really bad idea but i am just so fed up of constantly saying no to her all the time  I don't know if it was the 2 los of insulin or the pasta that caused the...

    Help with changing doses please

No i did not know that, i know nothing about the different food absorption rates despite keeping asking at the hospital :( I know that high sugary carbs are quick release and starchy carbs are more slow release but that is it! Hhhmmm i wonder where i should start with splitting for pasta then...

    Help with changing doses please

Hopefully his levels will go back to normal soon then. I don't restrict carbs at all, obviously when she was on premix i would keep them at a set level for each meal, i think growing children need carbs although i try not to have too many sugary carbs. Well the 1:10 ratio was too much Tuesday...

    Help with changing doses please

Oh that is brilliant news about his results :D Yup i got told the same by a dr at the end of June that her insulin should be a 50:50 split and not the 65% Levemir : 35% Novorapid that she seems to be on, i queried that with her DSN as i felt like i already had enough to be worrying about with...

    4 yr Diaversary

I agree with everything you have written above, i hate trying to plan things too far into the future although i am starting to plan a few things a couple of months ahead. So you should be very proud of yourself, you do an amazing job with Khaleb all by yourself and you have been like a lifeline...

    Help with changing doses please

Aaawww i will keep my fingers crossed that he is not too poorly :( I think you do an amazing job considering he has down's as well. I have no idea about the higher levels last night, all i can think of was it might have been a delayed food rise, she had curry, rice, naan bread, choc covered...

    Help with changing doses please

Thanks Jen, the reading i was most unhappy with was the 17:10 as she seemed to go up a lot from the 15:00 reading, i made her rinse her hands and test again incase it was wrong! Last nights readings were dire  I even braved a correction when i went to bed but it didn't seem to have much...

Oh no poor khaleb and poor you :( It seems to be that i can get 2 days good readings and then it all seems 'out' again which is frustrating and i am not known for my patience either! Normal day at home today and looking at todays readings i 'think' the morning levemir 'might' need to go back...

Originally i thought it was just the excitement of going on trains!! But the 2nd time it happened it got me thinking.... Today's train journeys to London and back: No chewing gum, no sugar free sweets, just water No hypos I know it could still be co-incidence but i think i will ban chewing gum...

    Chewing Gum

Ah thanks Nigel, i shall do that in future if it is a while til the next meal. The ins and outs were not really explained to me, it was a case of: you've already got novorapid so here's some levemir and another pen, start on these doses and see how you go. That was all i was told!!
