I heard sth about pancreas transplant.

I always assumed it's because the new pancreas isn't 'self', and also that the anti-rejection drugs damp the immune system right down.

    Type 2 and early pregnancy

I can see a faint line there too possibly. If it was me, I'd retest on the day your period is due. I speak from experience - early pregnancy tests aren't always reliable.nthat doesn't mean yours is wrong - just that I always like to contain my excitement until I'm sure.

    Type 2 and early pregnancy

I'd act as though you were pregnant (avoid alcohol, etc) just in case, and test as soon as you can @Sugarfiend Obviously, test your BS frequently too if you're reading lower than expected. Keep us updated :)

If you look through this Pregnancy section, you'll find other threads from ladies who suspect they might be pregnant and ladies who are definitely pregnant reporting back on BS levels in early pregnancy :)

    Type 2 and early pregnancy

Hi @Sugarfiend :) Yes, early pregnancy can cause lower levels and hypos. It varies for each lady slightly, but I found my levels very early on we're higher than normal, then the lows started at around 6-8 weeks maybe.

    Type 1 night time hypos

@charley I believe Dexcom will alert family members. But I do agree that getting your hypos sorted is the best option.

Right, thanks for explaining. They don't make disposable cookware like frying pans. Even if you get a wok, it will still need care - that is, you'll have to spend as much time caring for it as you would a normal pan (although the care it needs will be different). So you have two options - 1)...

How to get into low-carb without IR?

@Eldra You can get a very good HbA1C with reasonable carbs. It just takes work - as does Dr Bernstein's method. People assume it's the food he eats, but he uses three different insulins and has a huge focus on his control. Sadly, there's no easy answer or short-cut. But there are lots of tips...

You still haven't explained why you want a pan tgat you can do this with? How do you wash your plates? Why can't you wash a pan in the same way? What happened with the halogen oven? I thought you wanted to cook meat in that? How did you cook your meal this evening?

Read Kristin's post again. She mentions cast iron because that's what woks are made of, and then she talks about how you have to oil them. What exactly do you want to cook/fry in a wok?

Perhaps you could try it short-term to get your BS down and your energy back, and see how it affects your weight?

    Pre-Conception Advice

There's a well-known forum called Soul Cysters @ClaireH88 So are you saying you would prefer to be on insulin to get your levels down? If so, then don't think your opinion doesn't count. You're the person who has the PCOS and diabetes and you should be involved in the decisions.

    Pre-Conception Advice

@ClaireH88 Have you also tried asking on a PCOS forum? I think Metformin is commonly prescribed, but there might be ladies who can't tolerate it who have been in a similar situation to yourself. Pregnancy itself causes insulin resistance, so I can imagine you might need insulin then anyway...

Kristin explained above. Do you have a wok? Or is this a friend's like the halogen oven?

Hi @diabeticmegxo If you mean the muscle very near to your eye, then yes, I've had that. It went on for a few weeks off and on. I think mine was simply due to tiredness.

    Pre-Conception Advice

I really sympathise @ClaireH88 High levels are horrible and make you feel rubbish physically and emotionally. I don't know about Type 2 drug options as I'm Type 1, but if you're going to need to go onto insulin anyway, then I wonder at what point they'll let you use it. It does seem...

How to get into low-carb without IR?

I completely agree. There's no magic diet for Type 1 and we all need to find a level of carbs that suits us. @Eldra Keto is something I avoid not just because of the IR but because it's far more of a nuisance bolusing for protein's delayed rise, and taking into account the effect of the fat.

    Who tests regularly for ketones?

No, it's just a slight variation :) Some people say 13, some 15.
