    Ice Latte

Hi @alodeny :) It depends what's in it. I find many iced lattes seem to have syrups in and these can push the carb count up. You could try and see what happens to your blood sugar after.

Balancing low carb diet and ketones

I'm Type 1. I am not putting all ketones in the same box. I'm talking about ketones in relation to ketosis NOT DKA. The mouse study I refer to is NOT talking about DKA either. It is concerning the possible risks of a low carb diet during pregnancy. The study suggests too few carbs can cause...

9 weeks pregnant, what to eat?

Congratulations @Jazmine287 :) You should be given a whole lot of useful info at your diabetic midwife appointment, but in the meantime, once you get your meter it will be very helpful in showing you what you can eat because you can see how your blood sugar is affected. You might also have a...

GD Advice please- gestational diabetes now likely to be diabetic

LADA does come on slowly. It's a slow-onset form of Type 1 basically. Remember that the blood glucose meters have a margin of error, so a 3.7 could be, say, a 4.5. In addition, my consultant told me that people without diabetes sometimes have blood sugar in the high 3s. I don't have Type 2 so...

GD Advice please- gestational diabetes now likely to be diabetic

Hi @Peanut2017 :) From memory, I think the time blood sugars are supposed to be back to normal is around 13wks but you're wise to raise your concerns with a doctor. Ladies who are mistakenly thought to have GD but actually have aType 1/LADA tend to need Indulin during pregnancy whereas you say...

Balancing low carb diet and ketones

The misrepresentation is how the study is portrayed and also the comments about breastmilk, among other things. The fat content of breastmilk varies but one element of breastmilk remains constant because it's so important. That element is the carbohydrate content. Pregnant women are not usually...

Balancing low carb diet and ketones

I agree the kitchen link didn't take into account diabetes, but the points about the misrepresentation of that study still remain. It's equally true for people with diabetes and the facts it contain are, again, relevant to all women. Diabetes isn't a reason to eat a diet that purposely causes...

Balancing low carb diet and ketones

I remember you talking about your baby before - hugely upsetting. I can understand why you still think about that because I would. I had a bad hospital experience with my 2nd baby. It haunts you. I sympathise totally. The key is BS cntrol and adequate carbs, in my opinion. Obviously, eating...

Balancing low carb diet and ketones

Rather a biased interpretation of that study on the Real Meal Revolution site. Glucose/carbohydrate is the primary source of nutrition for babies. Babies are only n ketosis between feeds due to their high growth demands, so ketones are a back up not a preferred source of nutrition...

    accu chek insight

I don't remember exactly how long I had the Insight, but it was somewhere between 1 and 3 weeks. I was so shocked by it after my old pump, that I removed the Insighf (and quite literally cried with relief) and put my old pump back on, which I still had fortunately. I told the hospital and we...

    accu chek insight

Tagging @Snapsy for you as she has it and likes it :) I can't remember if it was you I replied to or another member, but I had the Insight and hated it so much I gave it back. My advice is to google lots about the pumps on offer, read reviews, watch videos - and then go for what suits you...

Blood Glucose Level while in Ketosis

Yep, get the reading confirmed. If it was a nurse who took that reading and it really was that low, they'd have commented. Double check the reading, that it was a blood glucose reading, and the units used. Edited to add that if it was done by a non-professional, it could simply be a mistake...

    Low Blood sugar

Usually people with diabetes will have hypo treatments with them. I use Dextrose tablets or Lucozade. How many members do you have with diabetes?
