Blood Glucose Level while in Ketosis

Hi @Lopert :) 1.3mmol is an extremely low glucose level. That surprises me as you'd be feeling very rough at that level.

    DAFNE Rules: Request for help/information

Re your pasta comments above @Snapsy thats what I did originally :) I weighed my pasta uncooked, then weighed that same pasta after it had been cooked. That allows me to be flexible as I know what cooked weight of pasta represents my chosen raw weight. It also means I can cook a load of pasta...

    DAFNE Rules: Request for help/information

Yes, the important thing is to ensure you have the right carb amount. So double check the carb counter/packet info you're using coincides with your preference of cooked or dry weight, then use the carb amount with your ratio. Experience will show you which foods work best with cooked or raw...

    DAFNE Rules: Request for help/information

@Bluemarine Josephine It depends what your carb amount app/book/list says. I weigh pasta uncooked, pulses uncooked, potatoes uncooked, and measure rice by cooked tablespoons, but as long as you know the correct carb amounts for cooked/raw, you can do whatever you want. Edited to add that I...

Bad cramp in my feet any ideas?

Magnesium is supposed to help too @Tracyann35 Can you think of anything that might have caused this? Sometimes when it's very hot, I can get cramps. I put that down to extra perspiration.

Hi! I have been type 1 diabetic for 20 years amd am currently looking into getting an insulin pump.

Hi @cheryl_44 :) A pump needs a fair bit of input and understanding from the user, but you get repaid with (hopefully) smoother numbers :) I've had a pump for 13 years. I love it and it changed my life. You do need to understand carb counting though and be prepared to tweak your settings to...

Is it possible to still be in "honeymoon" 2 years on?! Unexplained hypos.

@chlsybwnx If it was me, I'd try swapping back to the Lantus and re-introducing dairy (unless there's a medical reason not to) At least then you'll have everything exactly the same and be able to see better whether there has been a change for no reason. It does seem a coincidence that you made...

Is it possible to still be in "honeymoon" 2 years on?! Unexplained hypos.

Has anything changed at all? Your diet? Your weight? New meds? Anything like that? If it hasn't, I'd phone your DSN just so that you can get reassurance from them.

    Newly diagnosed 6yr old

Hi :) That must be horribly upsetting. Is it the pain, do you think? Or is it just that he simply doesn't want an injection? Is it all injections or just the basal insulin? You could see if he's eligible for a pump. None of my children have Type 1 but if they did a pump would be top of my list...

diagnosis of eating disorder because I'm type 1 and follow low carb diet?

@michita Ive never had my consultant ask me what I eat or how many carbs I have (apart from very soon after diagnosis when I was on fixed doses). She tends to look at my results - blood tests, eyes, weight, etc etc, and that's what we talk about. From what you've said - about you wanting...

Dizzy, shaky, lightheaded, weak, sleepy after EVERY meal - am I diabetic? Please help!

Ask about the Post Prandial Hypotension in case that hasn't been ruled out. It's specifically linked to,eating. You could have a Google and see if the symptoms seem to fit. I'm not saying it is that but it might be worth asking about.

Low carb - but high sugars - advice please!

That's fantastic news @Odin004 ! Well done - and what a relief for you! As you say, 125g carbs is still low carb and you've got an amazing result there. Isn't it great when things work out? :)

Doctor said glucose are too low

The HbA1C converter on this site doesn't even go that low. It sounds a very unusual result. Could it have been 22 instead? When she mentioned adjusting your diet, was that because she thinks you're not eating enough?

Dizzy, shaky, lightheaded, weak, sleepy after EVERY meal - am I diabetic? Please help!

Have you had your thyroid tested @Pastures11 ? And have you had a test for diabetes? I'm presuming you have as you say you've had a lot of tests. There's a condition linked to blood pressure that can cause fainting after eating called Postprandial Hypotension. Has that been ruled out? If...

Newly diagnosed, not sure what type and fed up already!

That could be a Type 1 honeymoon period causing the lows. You're doing the right thing testing lots. If you keep going low after meals, maybe your insulin to carbs ration needs adjusting. Do you have a half unit pen?
