    The Mail Online strikes again

From the article "Type 2, the most common form of diabetes, is primarily caused by a fatty build-up around our muscle and liver cells, and 90 per cent of people who get it are overweight." Again suits the papers narrative, that is is your own fault for being sloth and gluttonous. But hold on...

How many obese people do NOT develop t2d?

The presenter may be correct in raising lifestyle, but we all take it the wrong way. The media have used the terms of lifestyle and obesity as the reason people become T2. It plays to the audience (particularly the daily wail) that this is the fault of the individual in committing at least 2 of...

Have I got Diabetes or not?

@Busbar Not being a health care pro I couldn't possibly say. But your GTT suggests that all is not well. At the very least you have Insulin Resistance, which is a precursor to Type 2 Diabetes. It may pay you to reduce your carbohydrate intake. That alone may help you with the extra lbs :)

    So Confused about diet

Up the fat to compensate. I lost weight on LCHF, but stalled it by upping the fat content of my food and eating more nuts

    Type 2 Overwhelmed by diagnosis

I believe it is called a GAD test. It determines whether you are producing any insulin. It costs your Doc a bit of money. The ketones test is cheap! https://www.diabetes.co.uk/gad-antibody-test.html

    Type 2 Overwhelmed by diagnosis

Hugs @KatieLou . It is all very bewildering at first, but once you get your head round it matters will be much clearer and life will settle down. I am not a Doctor but your statement that you are slim and have lost weight rings alarm bells in my head. Please go back to your surgery and ask them...

THIS WAS ON A WBSITEBOF A DIABETIC DRUG

That's not too bad, pic 7 stands out as ok for me. Yes I would eat fewer carbs, but the suggestions are pics of what the site considers 'bad' and the next slide a suggested lower cal and carb alternative

How many obese people do NOT develop t2d?

Don't tell your DN, they will put it down as 'complications' due to D :)

How many obese people do NOT develop t2d?

In short most, ahem, 'calorie enhanced' people do not develop T2. I read somewhere that obese people make up a greater percentage of T2 population than the general population. BUT, that is probably because, no ifs, no buts IR people get fat. Hence many people are only diagnosed once they are...

Fasting blood reading is going up

@Dexterdobe do you keep a food diary? I ask because I have had the same issues, and the problem appears to be carb creep. Looking back I am eating more carbs now than I was a year ago. Initially this was deliberate, and my BG reading were little changed. I thought that maybe I was more tolerant...

I want to do Necastle Diet, But My Doctor No Support, What must I do

@gusbudone I feel for you, I was in that position 2 years ago. Not only were my surgery unsuportive, they were **** right obstructive. I cannot advise as I am not a healthcare pro. Are you on medications for you diabetes? Any other conditions that might impact you negatively? In the end I...

    Cholesterol and diabetes

In the UK Surgeries receive a payment from the NHS for each patient prescribed statins, that meets the criteria IMHO another example of "Money corrupts"

    Trying out Newcastle diet.

@endgame it is no surprise your cholesterol is high. You have lost weight, to put it crudely while you were 'enjoying' your 800 Cals/day your body was busy 'eating' itself to make up the difference. The blood stream is like the highway network. It is the means to transport energy to where it is...
