Could BG go back in range so quickly?

@cristis If beer was your tipple of choice, it is high carb, so you may have already adjusted your carb intake to a level your body is able to process

    When to stop metformin?

@Kentoldlady1 at least annually, that is what your GP is paid to do by us hard pressed taxpayers @Rachox Urine tests show proteins, so my kidneys are showing early signs of wearing out. I still take metformin at the moment, but only 500mg a day

    New diagnosed

@taxi lee Take a look at my signature, I too had an HBA1c of 96 on diagnosis. All is not lost. I am not saying you can cure yourself (I Haven't) but you can control T2 diabetes in such a way that you drastically reduce the chances of developing other conditions related to it. No doubt you have...

    New diagnosed

Well done on the meter Tablets? Metformin? If your tummy can tolerate them fine, if not go back to the Doc It IS a nerve racking experience. Good news is that from here on it gets better. You probably have felt anger, denial, look to pin the blame (don't) and eventually reluctance acceptance of...

    Meds and fasting.

I am on SR, and seem to cope well. I can take it with or without food, no problems. We are all different. All I can suggest is you try without food, but be wary of the known side effects and don't stray too far from the porcelain!

Type 2 No/Lo Carb Diet to Induce Diabetic Remission

@D@sty - welcome! I wont tag Daisy1 as you seem to be on top of things. Not being medically trained, I cannot comment on stopping the meds. That said, if your Dr is 'onside' and you have his/her support, then go for it! If you are being advised to touch base and get you HBA1c done that often it...

Prof Taylor on BBC4 soon this lunchtime

@ickihun posted a few days ago reminding us what the objective of the original ND Counterpoint study was, and I think in the heat of other debates it has been missed. Prof. Taylor had looked at the FBG data of morbidly obese T2's in the week(s) following bariatric surgery. This showed a...

Prof Taylor on BBC4 soon this lunchtime

@bulkbiker who said- 1. All diets work 2. All diets fail It matters not what diet anyone follows, at some point weight loss will stall, and perhaps go back up. What I call the hockey stick effect.

    Really Scared! :(

@Zmtawy123 5.5 as fasting prick test is fine. The normally accepted range is 4.0 to 5.9 Do you live in Singapore? I know that the local diet mixed with a so called 'western' diet is not good. You are a youngster and your body can probably cope at the moment, but over time the choc/chips/Ice...

The right amount of carbs intake for type 2 diabetics

The number of carbs I can eat is less than or equal to the number of carbs my body can deal with. We are all different. As other have said, get a meter if you don't have one and TEST, TEST, TEST. It doesn't tell lies!

    Desk Job issues

Stand up and move around at every opportunity. If the phone rings stand up! Talking to a colleague? move about a bit, it all helps. If you can, sit on a gym ball, you are constantly adjusting to stay upright!

Type 2 My diabetes is up again today

@Teatime First of all welcome! I will ask @daisy1 to post very useful information. Like you I am full of cold/flu symptoms at the moment and my numbers are elevated. Water is your best friend in the circumstances, and lots of it! Do not worry once your body has cleared up the virus/bug you can...
