Insulin Index of Yoghurt - Fact or Error

Thank you for this. Your ferreting has uncovered a plausible reason why yoghurt might induce a high insulin spike.

Ah! That explains it... and thank you for foraging for the paper.

Insulin Index of Yoghurt - Fact or Error

It's something to do with the insulin response evoked from a specific weight of food two hours after ingestion. Having just read that potato crisps fall into the green (acceptable) range I'm going to do precisely as @Daibell suggests and forget it.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Thank you John for your very considered response to my enquiry. Your narrative was extremely interesting and you appear to be overcoming the issues induced by medication. From a classic T2D perspective you certainly have things under control and I am in admiration of your efforts to remain in...

Insulin Index of Yoghurt - Fact or Error

I have always assumed that yoghurt is a good LCHF standby and frequently chuck in a good dollop of double cream to elevate the fat content. However, on surfing through a few articles on the insulin index of foods I fell upon this one which gives the insulin index of yoghurt as 115, some 15...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

John, in October 2017 you reported an HBA1c of 35 and soon thereafter you were involved in a discussion concerning how T2D could be effectively "resolved" for travel insurance purposes. Have you managed to remain in the normal blood sugar range (numbers please if you have 'em) and did you...

    Shocked and despondent!

You probably know this already but you're absolutely entitled to see your medical records: https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/about-the-nhs/how-to-access-your-health-records/ If you research a little further you will find that you simply have to show the receptionist an acceptable form of...

    Water Fast and Christmas Past

Day 7 and it's a beautiful day outside. Weight is 68.3 kgs so I've lost a tad under 5 kgs in 6 days. I haven't been this light in 50 years and I believe i can even see my stomach muscles (you've just gotta love an optimist). FBG is 4.6 while the earlier bedtime reading was 4.3. Ketones were...

Either your missus doesn't read your posts or you are an incredibly brave fellow. Little changes though and this is the inscription on the six 17th century Merryman Plates: What is a Merry Man Let him do what he can To entertain his guests with wine and merry jests But when his wife do frown...

    Water Fast and Christmas Past

Thank you @brassyblonde900. I do endeavour to minimise my carb intake but I definitely need to tweak something as dawn phenomenon was an annoyingly regular occurrence before the fast. Perhaps, as @Jim Lahey proposes, I have been overdoing the protein and (I quote) "unlike glucose, the body has...

    Banting's Keto Diet

For anyone who has not read William Banting's Letter on Corpulence here is the 1863 edition, self funded by the man himself as respected opinion of the time considered that he and his doctor were off their chumps. Anyhow, this wealthy undertaker (by royal appointment no less) easily lost a...

Sientists come up with yet another diet to save the world.

What is really crass is that the Stordalen EAT Foundation board consists of her, her husband, his three kids, a mergers and acquisitions lawyer, and an art curator (our Pete does like his art): http://www.stordalenfoundation.no/ Nepotism rules OK, particularly in the cases of Trump and...

Type 2 Eat to the meter, or play the long game?

Apologies if I sounded prescriptive... I just wanted to distinguish between managing T2D and attempting to reverse it. Nonetheless, there is no doubt it my mind (and many others) that minimising carbs is the solution to the latter. YMMV however and I totally respect yours and others' viewpoints.

    Slippers

I do hope that we haven't frightened you off with our somewhat direct request that you qualify your question. It's not that we're difficult ********. More to do with trying to provide answers that are specifically relevant to you. Please hang around... you will find it very helpful.

    Water Fast and Christmas Past

Day 6 so nearly half-way through. FBG is again 4.4 and last nights reading was 4.7. Considering I am "nil by mouth" (water excepted) it is interesting that my fasting glucose is absolutely unwaivering whereas my bedtime readings jump around a bit. It used to be the other way round owing to the...

Type 2 Eat to the meter, or play the long game?

I believe they ARE DIFFERENT. Eating to the meter is like being a nicotine addict trying to pack up fags, but still having a crafty drag now and then. Using a meter to check the effect of good food choices is one thing, but using a meter to monitor whether or not we can get away with (e.g.)...

    Water Fast and Christmas Past

It is now Day 5. Weight is 69.8 kgs (luvverly) and my FBG is 4.3. Last night's was 3.9 which was my first time in the 3's (I know it's probably due to spec variance but I love it). Ketones were 7.2 last evening which is a considerable jump from the previous reading. Took a brisk walk...

Good grief no. I promised you a prostrated apology but unfortunately overdid the Uriah Heep bit. [emoji4]
