Which surprising foods spike your bg?

Yay. Avocado to the rescue? I don’t really like the big ones. Too rubbery. I like the sweeter smaller ones. Last time I had tuna sashimi I couldn’t believe the spike but it came down fast. There definitely wasn’t enough fat in the meal. I’m finding drinking some broth with butter on some...

That is so weird. They do me too but the baby/ tiny shrimp don’t. I just found that odd that large do and baby don’t Although I wonder if I just didn’t have enough fat in the meal. I always have avocado with the baby Hm.... I feel an experiment coming up

Keto Diet and no Fast Acting Insulin

Congrats !! It is amazing isn’t it? I too follow bernsteins laws of small numbers. It’s the only way I can keep bs steady. But I eat 20 or less TOTAL carbs, not net per day. Keotogenic. I LOVE it

    Keto, Carb Levels & Appetite

I batch cook loads of proteins and freeze in my and my hubbies portions. I defrost in cold water and then decide what I want to do with it. Lately soup I just pour some broth on the protein, add some fat, herbs, seasonings and a few chopped veg. Super simple and could make a few meals worth. I...

    Type 1 Stir Fry Sauces

Lack of fat could have had you hypoing. It’s not just the carbs in a meal but fat and protein as well and they all digest at different paces. If there was no fat / protein the veggies most likely digested faster

Keto Diet and no Fast Acting Insulin

I still need both basal and bolus but I take very small doses. I eat 5 small meals a day and take 1/2 unit with each and 1-3 units lantus at night. I have to really watch my protein as it has a profound rapid effect on my bs The good news is I had my A1C Wednesday and it was 4.7 ! Happy dance

    Butter?

Our KG went up at Costco. Now $9 for 1.5 pounds. I wish they packaged it in those foil things in 1/2 T! That would be most convenient for me as I take some food with me everyday and really noticing how much a little more animal fat keeps bs lower

Can a lack of carbs be causing my constipation?

I don’t go every day. Less fiber equals less bulk. It only bothers me when I feel like I have to but that’s far rarer than just not going

    Vegetable help please!

http://www.calorieking.com/ This will give you both options. I tend to stick with one or two veg at each meal rather than a smorgasbord. Too domplicers. I have 3 or 4 different veg a day. Lunch is usually asp and Brussels and dinner broccoli and Bok Choy. I know how many carbs I want at each...

    Keto, Carb Levels & Appetite

I’m on about 10 keto forums. The standard on ALL of them is under 20 carbs per day. Protein varies a little but most are within the 40-60 g per kg LEAN body mass. The bigger you are the more you can have. Fat is where it varies widely. I’m certainly not telling anyone how to eat or who to...

    New to Keto

What’s sugar surfing and microdosing ? If micro dosing means a small dose often, that’s what I do. 1/2 unit every 2-2.5 hours with a snacky meal Being ‘in’ ketosis is not as important as becoming a fat burner. Once you’re fat adapted you will go back to ketosis much faster. Keeping carbs and...

Keto Diet and no Fast Acting Insulin

It’s closer to 75-85 fat, 15-20 protein and 20 or less TOTAL carbs I’m 80/15/20 total carbs. But whatever works for you. Keto isn’t about gobbling fat but rather minimizing carbs and protein because they both spike insulin. The new standards are .6 g per kg LEAN body mass but many eat over...
