High blood sugar after low GI breakfast

I have had this issue for the last 20 years. If I get up early (5am) my blood sugars soar. But also if I delay breakfast they also soar. So eating as soon as I get up seems to stabilise. On days I get up at 5 I just have to take additional bolus about an hour after waking.

Did you have good or bad experience with the Libre?

Does anyone know how you get offered these on the NHS? I know its often for people who are badly controlled but does this vary from region to region as is often the case with the NHS? I would be classed as well controlled with HBa1c 48 but no one hears the amount of work and finger pricks it...

    LC Christmas Pudding

Seen a few online but not sure if they taste any good. Almond flour, spices, some apple and blueberries so not super low carb. might be ok. not like proper xmas pud but might be a reasonable substitute but it would be good to hear if anyone had actually eaten one that was decent.

    Questions about DP.

Don't suppose anyone knows how DP works for T1 do they? 3 days a week I get up at 5 am to commute to my office. On these days I have a normal waking bg (this morning 4.9) but by 7.30 AM it was 12. Nothing to do with my carbs as I boringly always eat the same thing and take the same bolus. The...

LC and how your body works

Thanks Tim2000s this is very informative and makes sense. I didn't think it could be keto effect so new in and with still approx. 70g carbs. I am working my way into it gently this time as I really had a bad time last time. So bad I cannot remember any positives from the diet although pretty...

Hi Ziggy. I should have asked for a link also. Would you mind sharing with both Rianne and me?

LC and how your body works

Hi Rianne. Thanks for the reply. And it does answer my question as I think you might be right. It is the Bolus that was causing the fluctuations probably and now taking much less bolus and probably a lot to do with not eating carbs that behave randomly or variably if my Basal is OK then I am not...

LC and how your body works

Thanks Helen, Thanks Ziggy. Do you think it could happen after only a couple of days though? Perhaps rhetorical for you Ziggy as you have googled but someone else might know?

    Pain and blood sugar levels

Oh and just to check. Sounds like since eliminating when you have gluten now the symptoms are even worse? Is that right?

    Pain and blood sugar levels

Sorry Cott97 read this after my post. So eliminate for a week and I should see positive results? I will try that. Maybe the gluten causes the additional inflammation. Well clearly it would if I am coeliac. Got to be worth a try [emoji1]

    Pain and blood sugar levels

Sounds all familiar apart from the cancer god bless you. I am very grateful to the NHS. I have a good job and pay good Ni but I know I absorb significantly more than others but the Autoimmune keeps on giving (or taking as far as NHS is concerned). Life is hard for everyone so fitting in endless...

    Pain and blood sugar levels

Will do then. Thanks. How long is a decent abstinence to judge it it is a problem? Also how much do you think it was the gluten exclusion or the processed flour (sugars) in normal bread that helped you?

    Pain and blood sugar levels

Sorry sent before I finished. Had blood test and biopsy for coeliacs and showed nothing but the specialist was sure it still was and said they sometime come back negative?? So eliminating is probably the way to go. But leaky gut - yes. I have thought that for a long time (have ibs symptoms too...

    Pain and blood sugar levels

Hi Donnellydogs you are right of course your t should not be difficult to diagnose most of these things but I have moved location a lot over the last few year and switched from Nhs to private with insurance through work and now back to NHS and there is no consistency. Plus there is no holistic...

    Pain and blood sugar levels

Thank you butterfly but 10 years on I have given up. Just need to look for solutions of my own but the biggest challenge is understanding why something is happening so you can eliminate isn't it? Hope you were sorted after the gall stones [emoji1]
