    Thyroid problems

It's a difficult one to balance my GP tells me because it is all endocrine! It's interesting reading comments, I take mine first thing with Metformin and Gliclazide! I am now wondering as I have just had mine reduced if I should be taking it separately and, if the LCHF diet has any bearing!? I...

    First visit to Diabetes Nurse.

I was told to use this site as a First and Foremost. Got more answers, support and sensible constructive advice from this site than from my entire GP Practise. Do test it's the most must have tool for diabetics. It makes much more sense of things and allow you you to see how you are...

Metformin - am I right to be scared??

5 months in with Metformin. The biggest issue is as 'chalup' says, the bowelly issues. It took me 5 months to get use to it. I kept a food diary and BG readings. It might help detecting triggers. I found certain foods made it worse, IRs very much perseverance! You will get use to it, there...

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

Testing is crucial and key. I saw my GP for the first time since diagnosis 6 months ago, yesterday. Apparently despite bringing my Hb1 down from 137 to 48, by testing and LCHF Diet it is not necessary to test and he does like the diet, despite the fact that I have lost 2.5 stone! My personal...

Hang on in there and just carry on doing what you are doing and await the results! Not much else you can do at the moment I guess. The good things is they seem to have been thorough which is not always the case! Good luck and stay in touch. [emoji16]

    When don't you need medication!

My HbA1c has gone from 137 in March down to 48 in July. Saw GP yesterday, he lowered my thyroxine dose from 200 to 175, but left my Metformin and Gliclazide exactly the same. With these results I expected him to at least reduce the Metformin! When or at what stage might they be reduced!

Saw GP today! Summary of visit: Hb1Ac 137 down to 47 in 5 months, thyroxine needs reducing by 25 mgs having been told it was too low 3 months ago but cholesterol a bit high but is probably thyroid related so will leave for 3 months! Thyroid accounts for pins and needles, heat intolerance and...

Over the past 3 weeks I have had a mild sensation of pins and needles in my right arm and in my fingers which has been more pronounced over the past 2 days. We all start with very little support from the medical profession! Ask away on the Forum and have a good look around. It was and still is my only real source of info and support! X

Did anyone else take a back step after the diabetic nurse??

I think by and large, we are on our own. We are better off talking to each other and supporting each other. Some of the medical profession have a lot to answer for. I have very little faith in the medical profession and I would rather seek answers from forum members!

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

You do need to test to understand what suits you food wise. There is no other way of finding out. It works so 'just do it', as the advert says!

    Sleepless nights!

Well, I will try the yoghourt I am so desperate anything is worth a go! I have to have my thyroxine upped again next week and I was going to ask about sleeping tablets in the hope they might set a pattern. I gave to have a list ready because my GP is worse than contacting God! As you say...

    Sleepless nights!

I read somewhere that there is a link between erratic sleep and diabetes due to fluctuating BG levels! Since diagnosis In don't think I have had one decent night's sleep. I know this is a very common problem generally (BBC programme about sleep deprivation) but does any body have any...
