What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Evening everyone! For late breakfast had 4 rashers of streaky bacon, 2 fried eggs, and a slice of the sourdough bread I prepared yesterday with added linseed, sunflower and pumpkin seeds to lighten the carbs. It seems to have worked making a moist loaf. There's still much work to be done on...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Breakfast was my 'current' normal breakfast, 2 back bacon rashers, 2 xl fried eggs, and a slice of sourdough toast loaded with butter. Had a G&T mid afternoon. Ate a handful of walnuts and pecans while preparing dinner of Spaghetti Bolognese, no spaghetti for me though. When it was time to...

    Diet rather than Victoza.

Hi @Carrienewby welcome to the forum. Think most of us on this forum can absolutely relate to how you feel, and have at one time been where you are now. This is a very supportive forum from people who know what it's like to have diabetes and all the implications associated with it. Most of a...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Pretty uneventful day today, unless it counts that I gave the washing machine one of its twice a year service cleans. A pretty boring event I'll grant you, though nice now it's done. Two rashers of back bacon, 2x XL fried eggs, 4 sauteed mushrooms, and just to capture that exciting feeling of...

    Sietan

I use Cronometer through a browser as I find the app a little clunky, there are other apps though, CarbManager, FatSecret, MyFitnessPal and others. You'll find there's not much difference between wholemeal and white type flour, or indeed oats, they all turn into sugar when digested.

    Sietan

From the Cronometer app for 100g: Sounds a pretty good food to have, though obviously it depends what else you're going to add with it.

    Diagnosed last Friday

Hi @syemon, welcome, you've found a really good forum of helpful people who have no doubt started on this journey where you are at this moment. Already you've had some great advice, with information that's no doubt putting you on a huge learning curve. My only suggestion to you is to download...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Good evening everyone! Breakfast was a chaffle, with cream cheese. Dinner was a butterflied salmon fillet, with half a dozen prawns, served with a creamy butter sauce. Mashed celeriac with butter, French green beans, and broccoli.

Cauliflower rice - cooking methods - first experiments

I get exactly what you are saying @LittleGreyCat, although I'm far from cured of carb addition, I've been thinking about a book I read many moons ago by the hypnotist Paul McKenna. He suggested that when you're drifting off to sleep, think of the food you've been craving, then imagine it in the...

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

Completely agree, I pay over £17 for 100 strips (through Amazon, the cheapest I can find, of which so far haven't had a quality problem) which lasts about a month if I'm lucky, it would even be a great help if they were VAT free.

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Easting is so unique, I could eat sausages with mash very easily (but I wont), though I'd find it hard to eat sausages with just cabbage. I've been caught out many times over the carb content of sausages, think those Walls sausages are the worse, their carb content is way too much. Heck 97% pork...

Need help to get back on track

Being in control of what I eat is the only 'control' in my life that's mine. Can't help thinking how much worse life would be if I were out of control. It's not the taking part that's important, it's the getting back on the horse when you fall off that's the most important.

    Eating a healthy diet affordably

Don't know much about it, but have you thought of the Carnivore diet? I've heard people can live quite healthily on it for years, afterall it's what our ancestors did.

    Meal times

Another Youtuber that I watch is Dr Mindy Pelz, she's big into fasting 'windows'. Interesting what she said, "When that sun goes down we should be finishing up our last meal", this resonates with me me as I believe the circadian rhythm is something we ignore most of time. Interesting theory...

    Eating a healthy diet affordably

Sorry you're housebound @Woolfold, that can't be easy for you. I'm practically housebound as I'm a carer for by husband, so I rely a lot on Tesco, Asda, and Ocado deliveries. I have a delivery from one of them once a week, ringing the changes for variety and because prices do vary. I know...

    Electrolytes & Keto...

Since beginning of June I've been under (in the main) 20g of carbs a day. Being low carb has many benefits, not least the feeling of well being it can provide, I enjoy it. Getting your electrolytes balanced is essential and it can be quite an act. If you don't get enough it can make you feel...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Evening everyone :) Seeing that my husband has been tagged as non-diabetic this week, I'm finding meal planning surprisingly so much easier. While he was under suspicion of being diabetic, he'd been joining me in my low carb effort, but it was such a pain trying to balance what he likes (his...

    Is milk my problem?

Can I suggest you use one of the free apps to track and learn the carb content of foods you are consuming, there's FatSecret, CarbManager, MyFitnessPal and many others, I personally use Cronometer through a browser. Cronometer also registers vitamins, minerals and other nutritional values of...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

When I pre heated the air-fryer in preparation for cooking last night's dinner, I discovered I'd left some Tesco chipolatas in the oven from that morning. They were pretty charcoaled when they were discovered. I had 4 of them for lunch, I find well done sausages rather flavoursome :). Also had a...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

It was easy to dodge the mince pie today, SIL apologised for not doing any baking as she's off visiting her daughter for a month on Monday. So it was a doddle to refuse the shop bought offering. Thank you for the info about celeriac, I use Cronometer too and hadn't noticed that 100g of celeriac...
