What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

The cold weather is like insulin resistance. The longer you are exposed to it, the less it effects you. I absolutely abhor winter and would prefer to only see it in National Geographic but it’s part of where I live. On the flip side, summers do produce high 20’s to low 30°c temps so it do even...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

I’m in Thunder Bay Ontario Canada. -20°c is uncomfortable but in the depths of winter-40°c without a windchill is quite common. We have hit -53° with windchill so it does get cold. In -20°c I can still go outside for a limited time in just jeans and a t-shirt. The older I get though, the less...

    A little experiment

For the last couple of weeks I have been testing my bg religiously pre and post prandial as well as fasting bg’s. My numbers have averaged between 8.0 (fasting) and then between 5.3-7.3. I haven’t had bread or rice but did have a potato Wednesday. My eating has pretty much been one meal in a...

Two weeks of consecutive 24 hour fasts

@Goonergal one thing that may kickstart your weight loss could be to do the 24 hour fasts lunch to lunch. Sometimes meal timing is just as important. Awejob.

    Meter averages

@chrisvw70 those numbers aren’t all that bad. What you should do is check you blood glucose 2 hours after taking your first bite. Ideally they shouldn’t go up more than 2 mmol/dl. If they are, check the amount of carbohydrates are in your meal and try switching them to something lower in carbs...

    Meter averages

@Bluetit1802 sorry, I misread your post. You are correct. I will assume though that since my averages are now lower, my next Hba1c test should also be a little lower as well. Anyway you look at it though, the lower averages do provide plenty of motivation to keep dialing in my diet and avoid...
