How to travel with a insulin pump?

Hi @Jhon Doe and welcome to the forums. I think @Nicola M 's reply covers everything, but I'll add my experiences, just to confirm people can travel with a pump. I'm a pump user, but not a minimed one, but I do sympathise about the extra kit needed if travelling. Though I've only had my pump...

    Gastric balloon

Some posts have been removed from this thread as they were off topic, @LouiseMck 's question is asking for experiences with a gastric balloon, not suggestions of other ways to lose weight.

Sensor Readings All Over The Place!

Have you spoken to your diabetic team about your difficulties with mathematics? It might make it easier for them to help you, because most explanations of carb counting and insulin dosing assume that people can learn it via a maths explanation...

Vegetarian diet and type 1 diabetes

Mastering diabetes claim to have some success with T1s and their plant based diet. It's not an approach that is popular with many of the folk on here, but that is partly because the majority are T2 and they mostly prefer a low carb approach. You might be interested in this thread here...

Sensor Readings All Over The Place!

Remind me if you've been on a DAFNE course yet and/or been taught to do correction dose?. As the others have said it's not a big difference, if you take the mid point of 12.9 then both meter and cgm are less than 10% out.... What you do depends very much on how recently you last had insulin...

Very Low Blood Sugars, Not Increasing With Carbs

Very frustrating that you aren't spotting any obvious patterns as to causes of the lows, but more data has to be better. People who have eating disorders can get all sorts of strange symptoms, I have no idea whether this applies to you. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4381361/ Forum...

Very Low Blood Sugars, Not Increasing With Carbs

Have you set an alarm for the middle of the night? Just not sure what will happen if fast carbs are the issue and they make you go very low earlier than the morning....

Type 1 You could lose your CGM and Pump

Sorry for your loss @lovinglife but very glad to hear that the home was able to cope with an insulin dependent diabetic with dementia. I can see a pump might be tricky (don't want the dementia patient dialling up random quantities of insulin) though I believe you can set up a security pin which...

    Advanced Eye Disease

I'm very sorry you are going through this. You've done a fantastic job in normalising your sugar levels and hopefully this should be good as regards any future diabetic complications, in eyes or anything else. That is a very real achievement that you should be very proud of. The good thing...

Update on newly diagnosed with no symptoms and 'normal' BMI

I hope you have a fantastic trip @Mrs SLD Menstrual cycles and hormones are just one of the many many things that can affect your glucose levels, so that's a possibility https://diatribe.org/diabetes-management/42-factors-affect-blood-glucose-surprising-update

    Weight loss type 1

I too have had frozen shoulder both sides. The first took 3 years from start to 95% functionality and has only returned to completely normal now after ten years. The second was much faster ( a year) and I attribute the improvement to treatment with physio from the beginning.... As for weight...

Very Low Blood Sugars, Not Increasing With Carbs

Personally, I think this is why you need an appointment with an endocrinologist not a GP. Specialist endocrine conditions are generally outside their expertise and they may not even have heard of them. (I know I don't expect my GP to know much about T1, and that is the second most common form...

Type 2 Increased finger prick bleeding

I'm thinking that you could change back to the previous ones and see if it makes a difference.... In this N=1 T1 sample, I've not noticed a change in bleeding over time, but I am very old school in my finger pricking, I just stab with a bare lancet....

Nothing wrong with your question, forumites just have to be careful how they answer it. (ie info with links or personal experience and not telling you what to do.)

We can't give medical advice here so I have to be careful what I say. As a T1, who injects for everything (no insulin of my own) the amount of insulin I take depends on the number of carbs in my meal (fats and proteins also have an effect but much less so.) I must admit I used to love bran...

    LONG HYPO!!

I have carbs on my bedside table to maximise ease of carbing up. (Unfortunately when I am low at night there is a great temptation to ignore the alarm and just sleep) My partner hates the alarms too but having lived through some hospital inducing hypos pre cgm (one when he feared I was...

Very Low Blood Sugars, Not Increasing With Carbs

Unfortunately there are a number of things that can cause hypoglycemia (let alone your other symptoms) and my understanding is that you need an endocrinologist to do the tests to identify the correct one. (Anxiety causing I know, but the sooner you have those tests the sooner they can identify...
