After one week on low-carbs. Should I rather try Keto?

Haha, thanks guys! :) But I am so confused now. Because about half of you encouraged me to go for it, and the other half told me to take it easier. I'll certainly look at all these pros and cons and make a decision. Great feedback and advice from everyone, I'm truly grateful!

After one week on low-carbs. Should I rather try Keto?

I've read it long ago and gave her a like. Sorry I did not answer to each message individually, I was afraid I'd talk too much :) What I've seen is most people on Keto remain in ketosis, but can occasionally switch back and forth. But anyway, if you guys say it's easy, you know better of course...

After one week on low-carbs. Should I rather try Keto?

As I said, I'm glad this works for you so well. I am actually a bit jealous: I doubt everybody could switch so easily from ketosis back and forth, with no harm and feeling no side-effects :) ...Any reason why this diet is not widely adopted and more popular?

After one week on low-carbs. Should I rather try Keto?

Interesting approach, thanks for sharing. Just wondering, however: you should be pretty young, if I am not mistaken, and your body may take a toll for such inconsistent efforts. I'm not a fan of skipping meals. For many years I used to skip breakfast and that's not very healthy. IMHO...

After one week on low-carbs. Should I rather try Keto?

Very interesting and good to know, Oldvatr! I would point out however that something "not totally in keto" cannot actually exist. Your body is either in a ketosis state or not. And it consumes either glucose or fat, as fuel. I'll look more into this diet, but I'm truly afraid switching your...

    Prediabetes

Just like you, I've been told for years by all GPs that I have to make lifestyle changes (diet and exercise) and nothing more. I was initially frustrated they never told me people buy cheap meters for BG and BP. I have now both for years, but nobody told me to buy them. I had no idea the BG...

    Prediabetes

    1) The notion of being "prediabetic" is relatively new and confusing. In Canada, they changed the limits almost every year and they are still not very consistent in the way they screen people for diabetes. 2) I've seen my BP up indeed when my BG was high.

After one week on low-carbs. Should I rather try Keto?

You're right. I got them mixed up with my own perception :) ...It's interesting he said nothing about fruits! They have sugar indeed, but it's natural fructose...

    Trying hard but starting slow

I've been like you just few days ago, when I started my own diet. Some people here helped me with their kind advice, so let me share some points, maybe something will help you too. a) Look for a day when craving will no longer be so strong. Take your time and prepare yourself for that day...

After one week on low-carbs. Should I rather try Keto?

Thanks a lot, Alison! Great article about Keto NOT being so healthy after all, and I see why: we restrict fruits and eat a bit too much fat, no matter the result. There is however one magic word missing there: "diabetes"! :) Because, unlike other healthier people using Keto, we have to change...

Thanks for the tip! Yes, I think I'll take that challenge. Great site as well...

    NO veg please

I used to hate cauliflower. All my life! We used to eat it boiled in my childhood... Few years ago, at some party, I just tried some raw with Ranch sauce. Should I say I'm a big cauliflower fan since? ;)

After one week on low-carbs. Should I rather try Keto?

Thanks, @Jared1, any opinion helps! :) You may be lucky to be in ketosis already, because you limited carbs below 30g daily and likely you eat enough fat. But low carbs does not mean Keto (see this)! For instance, with my low carbs, I eat a lot of vegetables and maybe not enough fat to force...

After one week on low-carbs. Should I rather try Keto?

First time in my life I switched to this healthy lifestyle. All well, but I have some serious side-effects (headaches, lack of energy, dizziness etc), I can hardly do anything else. I take more salt and vitamines (as recommended) and I control my transitive hypos, but still. I see many people...

My bad, of course. I was thinking at T2.

    NO veg please

Haha, I was like you, bro! :) What I found however over the years is that many things have an acquired taste. We hate some veggies because we got so used with loving sugar and fat from other sources, for instance. Try to reduce the amount of sugar or salt for a while, and you'll experience a...

    My story......

Interesting thread (and no need to fight, both sides are right in their own way)... I'm in my early 50s and, until 2 years ago, I also had a very wrong idea about diabetes. And I'll point out to the main reasons, external to us, that make us ignore it first, no matter how old we are: 1) Most...

Am I prediabetic, or I have diabetes 2 already?

@bamba - interesting article. Yes, they describe well what happened with this label of "prediabetes". It's kind of a warning, because lot of us will develop diabetes 2 in time (I think I'm already there, as I said). @Dark Horse - all these info changed so much over the years and still does...

Am I prediabetic, or I have diabetes 2 already?

That was a quote from the first article, check again, I said it. And, when they say OR, this means A1c could be optional and these are just guidelines. There are also differences in time and between provinces.

Am I prediabetic, or I have diabetes 2 already?

please don't put words in my mouth. I was talking only about how relative and superficial the distance between prediabetes and diabetes 2 is. When we get diagnosed.
