Am I obsessed or just experimenting?

I generally find that the Codefree meter tests a little higher than most!

    Fulfil Bars

I like these too! Have to be careful though - while some of them are made with erythritol, others are made with maltitol. Fine for some I'm sure but maltitol spikes me and gives me tummy trouble! The erythritol ones are good, though. :)

Type 2 Success (only 1 day but still)

Congrats - yes it's still a little high but if it's lower than you've had before than that is absolutely step in the right direction and you should be pleased - You have already made great progress with your hba1c. We all make our journey at a different pace. 7 might seem impossible for now but...

    Type 2 Concussion or diabetes

Glad to hear you're feeling better!

    Work Sandwich Box

In the four hours between your 1pm dinner and 5pm test, your sugars could easily have spiked and then lowered again. That's plenty of time. This is why testing 2 hours after a meal is more useful.

    Weight loss

Just wanted to add that with all the classes you're doing, you may not necessarily lose pounds as you will likely be building muscle, so may lose inches instead. Good luck!

Has anyone done well going vegan?

About a year ago before diagnosis I was considering switching to a vegan diet. Now, after diagnosis, I can't even really consider it, because a lot of vegan staples are just too high in carbs for my body to handle, as I am Type 2. The idea of whole foods such as grains/wholewheat foods being...

    Type 2 Concussion or diabetes

Are these symptoms new since the head bang, and have you been to your doctor since it happened? We can't diagnose anything here, so it's best to get checked out by a GP if you're worried. Congrats on your recent weight loss and low carbing efforts! :)

    I may have diabetes

Hi Molly and welcome to the forum! With regards to Type 2, it's debatable whether diabetes is every truly "reversed" or just put into remission. Some people do manage to "reverse" it but many people find that they have to adjust their way of eating for the rest of their lives. Type 1 cannot be...

2 Test meters 2 completely different readings

All meters have around a margin of error so no reading is truly accurate... Some are just designed to be closer to the lower margin and some the higher margin I think. I know what you mean though, I always find my Codefree to give higher readings than my GlucoRX. I tend to use my GlucoRX more...

Sugar levels are always 25-30 last few days

Hi @kkully88 and welcome to the forum. I'm tagging @daisy1 for her informative pack for new members. I'm afraid your numbers suggest that you may not eating as well as you think - 23mmol/L is very high and I think it may be best to go back to your GP as soon as possible with these results...

How Many Carbs do You Limit Yourself to Per Day?

I generally try to aim for 20g just because I'm of the belief that the lower, the better, because my body can't process carbohydrates properly. That 20g usually goes towards veg, a few berries, and often a cheeky Cadbury's Highlights hot chocolate in the evening - still need a treat now and...

PORRIDGE made with water or low fat milk?

Tastes better with milk but wouldn't touch it with a barge pole since diagnosis, too much of a spike for me. Water would be a lower carb option than milk but obviously what is "healthier" depends on what it does to your personal blood sugar levels. :)

    Please don’t stop posting...

Needed this post!! Been on and off the wagon since Christmas. This was my first Christmas post-diagnosis, and while Christmas dinner itself was fine, it's the gifts - the chocolate, the shortbread! - that have knocked me back. Always feel horribly guilty when I don't eat something that someone...

    Low-carb ketchup?

I just use Heinz No Added Sugar ketchup. 5.7g carbs per 100g and I only ever have a tablespoon at most which still caps in at under 1g carb.

Stepped off the Wagon a bit

If your sugars barely go above 5.4 as you say then I don't think you have anything to worry about :)

Is there a low carb sweet fatty dessert that I can buy?

I make peanut butter cheesecake fat bombs (https://www.fatforweightloss.com.au/recipe/cheesecake-fat-bombs/ but substitute about a tablespoon of cream cheese for peanut butter) and keep them in freezer. The consistency when frozen is a bit soft and fudgy so it's almost like an ice cream treat...
