    Trying low carb - struggling!

Really high cocoa chocolate is actually quite low in carbohydrate. I buy the 85% cocoa chocolate from Aldi - if you don't mind the slightly bitter taste it really hits the chocolate craving without too much guilt. For putting weight on as mentioned full fat yogurt, cream, eggs, cheese, olive...

I don't mind carb counting during the day. I'm very attracted to the idea of a closed loop system that could up the basal if I start running high when overnight whilst asleep so I'd always wake up in the 5s. I think the only one on the market at the moment though is the Medtronic and it only...

It was like an ice rink on Merseyside this morning. The few days of the year that a rear wheel drive car seems like a bad choice.

I hope it lives up to your expectations. I think I'm going to wait until they perfect the technology for pumps that auto adjust doses myself. I think they'll crack that properly fairly soon.

Very clear! Playfulness, fairness and goodwill are certainly mandatory.

@kitedoc Thank you for thinking/ dreaming of me. I had been wondering about the term "sledging" but I don't think it fits quite right. I'm sure you must have seen some ghastly things in your time. I'm new to this but I think beer and insulin is something of a Ponzi scheme. I certainly started...

I'm sure you will Ha Ha Ha. No seriously my condolences. I'm feeling cocky this morning as I have gradually dropped to a perfect 4.4 10 minutes before lunch. Sorry to boast I only do so because I know that can soon change. ; )

@kitedoc Your avatar does indeed soar magnificently. I hope I didn't go too far - what is the Aussie slang for banter? - I know the issues are serious and if you have personal experience then I'm sorry. Happy Flying!

Congratulations. I used to work on a ship that traded in the Baltic and Helsinki was always a good run ashore. Would love to go back. I'm sure you can dance off the beer and cake in the clubs! Have a great time!

I was trying to be light hearted. I have faith that everybody on here is intelligent enough to be aware of the risks. Still I'm sure that those that aren't are grateful they have their own friendly pedant to point them out to them! Have a nice day. X

Hope you had a good time. I was really nervous with mine the first time I took my daughter swimming. But - touch wood - it hasn't fallen off yet and I now dive in within even thinking about it.

Found a new hypo treatment last night - new to me anyway. I expect some seasoned campaigners are well ahead of me. Scanned my arm around 1800 and the Libre vibrated reading 4.2 with a down arrow. I thought about having a gluco tab but instead grabbed a can of beer from the fridge I know alcohol...

    ADA starts discussion on Keto

As a type one who has to use insulin I've found that restricting my carb intake enables me to use far less insulin, which has greatly increased my ability to live an active happy life, with fewer hypoglycemic interruptions. Restricting carbs has also allowed me to maintain a HBA1c in the...

Found the will power to vary my routine this morning. Normally I walk 3 yards from the front door to the car, drive to the office walk approximately another 15 metres from the car to my desk and then inject novo rapid and drink black coffee all morning and wonder why my BG levels aren't...

Not strictly low carb, but if I can catch a low early enough, I try an apple, orange or banana. I figure it is a good opportunity to get some fruit onboard. I think you have to go a little bit easy on yourself while you adjust your insulin to your new regime.

Thanks for the replies and welcome. Insulin regime is Lantus and NovoRapid. I take the Lantus in the evening around 1800 18 units at present. Sorry to hear about the rich tea biscuit - I feel your pain! Honeymoon period has been mentioned to me. I don't discount it but my personal opinion is...
