Good morning Diabetnam!!

Not looking forward to the trip on the back lanes to work this mooooooornin'...Ive already been out with the dog.

Madam diabetes still isn't playing fair, 7.2 this morning but at least the nose has nearly stopped. Off to London to see Edward Burne Jones exhibition ... well if the trains are running I am

Off to rake leaves in the churchyard with the ‘In Bloom’ group. Donning thermals, hats, scarves, and gloves with heat pads in. Must be mad!

Must be mad!
Yeap!

I have some very sad news.........

Yesterday at 13:45 whilst tucking my t-shirt in I blinking well caught my sensor and dislodged it, it wasn't even 24hrs old when it finally died an hour after the accident. Paramedics attended the scene at the time but were unable to resuscitate the youngster who by all accounts was an aspiring CGM showing excellent promise and had the potential to be an outstanding device. An appeal has gone out for a replacement but one local said "it is highly unlikely that a replacement would be forth coming, we can only hope". Police are saying they are not searching for any one else involved in this horrific incident.

And the dish ran away with the spoon? Oops wrong nursery rhyme. Commiserations though they are not inexpensive. As prices rise I can foresee a cottage industry of sensor revivalists and sustainers and advisory services and self help literature (some already on net) arising to deal with just such events and find ways to lower expenses..

Well after almost 38 years of injections, my time for this is coming to and end. Got the phone call today from DSN advising that someone has dropped out of the insulin pump group, do I want to take their place. Do bears sh it in the woods??? I had been marked for the following group but now to go on 27 February and get my pump. Its for a week before they let me loose on real insulin. And even better its my local hospital and not the one 20 miles away

Time to start searching Youtube for videos on the pump and maybe asking the pumpers on here for some top tips
Brilliant news @smc4761

Awww I don't know 7.2 is OK it is in the midleish sort of the normal range so I would be OK with that.

Enjoy your trip to London village ;)

Commiserations @slip, a special ceremony’s needed to mark the passing: it was too good for this world and now sits at the right hand of the Abbott bankers. Hope they take pity and despatch a replacement ASAP.
25% increase in basal and bolus over the last few days. Ruddy winter bugs! Beginning to feel more alive, by degrees, and ready to enjoy the outside world again. Hope you do too, Sue, and soon. (Ooooooooo)
The solar panels have been making more energy than I’ve had, I think they’re like children and have drained mine too, but unlike children they’ve powered the washing machine and washed the dishes.

Hi @karen8967, Baltic ? It is 39 degrees C here in Adelaide ! The temperature in the bedroom, which faces east and has a metallic, insulated roller blind and inner curtain, is 32 degrees C at the moment. We just cool the living room.
Out of fridge insulin is in that bedroom in a cooler bag with ice brick. The heat has contributed to a rash on my skin under the adhesive tape of the just superseded pump cannula.
Oh the joys of summer !!!
New forecast for tomorrow is for 45 Degrees C (no degrees F about it). I know the local greengrocer has a large fridge ...........

They are pretty awesome with there "knock off" replacements @slip.

Morning all - it definitely looks chilly out there. I will not experience it until lunchtime but my study was only 16.6 degrees when I started work. Thankfully, the sun seems to warm it up and, an hour later, it is up to 17.6 and still climbing. I would like to see some Libre-esque trend graphs but, unfortunately, it just shows me the current temperature and humidity.

@kitedoc your weather forecasts remind me of my time living in Melbourne. I don't think the temperature got past 40 degrees but, as I had no air conditioning in my house, my mattress was bought downstairs, the curtains were never drawn and I would go to the cinema to cool down. For a Brit there was a frisson of excitement with the weirdness of it all.

I hope all colds clear up and are not sent down the interweb. And I hope future sensors are healthy.
I am very glad you survived Melbourne temperatures @helensaramay and yes libraries, movie theatres and covered shopping malls are popular in the Antipodes at this time of year, and caves if you can find them!! I feel for the elderly, pet animals; and Aussie fauna caught up in the suburbs. Where a pet has an air-conditioned kennel you know that it is hot , or maybe they are just spoiled rotten !!!!! Although at least a husband sent out to the doghouse will not suffer too much !!

It’s snowing, not the proper stuff of a real winter yet, just teeny weeny flakes. Sorry @kitedoc.
Time to get some food out for the birds.

I never found any caves but would spend my weekends up in the mountains where it was cooler.
Ski-resorts in summer are strange places but not as ghost-town-like as you would expect.
I had no pets (apart from the mouse that decided to move in and watch TV with me for a couple of nights and a huntsman spider who lived on my landing for a few weeks) so didn't have to worry about keeping them cool.
It sounds like you had a great time except for the heat !! The springtime in and around the ski resorts is wonderful for the flowers. The temperatures were much cooler but I was caught out by the increased UV exposure several times !!
In inland South Australia (e.g. Copper Pedy, opal mining country) they have permanent underground homes to beat the fierce heat of summer. Some have tried to emulate these in Adelaide, or rather in the hills and down the coast, and are some of the 'caves', as some are called, that I am referring to !!
In Darwin way up north in the topics my daughter had a resident frog living under her desk who would 'serenade' her with ? his ? her croaking each night., summer time mainly.
Our fishes here in Adelaide, the goldfish called "Barrister" and the catfish called 'Law suit", are just dandy in their tank !!

I hope it lives up to your expectations. I think I'm going to wait until they perfect the technology for pumps that auto adjust doses myself. I think they'll crack that properly fairly soon.

I’ve just got up, it’s my one day off this week. Feels a bit odd after my 0530 starts! Got to walk the mile to our local hospital and back this afternoon, got the follow up consultation to the retinopathy screening that came back with maculopathy and non proliferative retinopathy. To say I’m bricking it would be a slight understatement. Will try not to fall over on the ice.

Hope you all have a nice not too cold/hot day x

Good luck, Mel, I’m keeping everything crossed it’s not one iota as bad as you fear.

Sorry to hear of your eye news. I had some background retinopathy which vanished over time. There are treatment for maculopathy but in what I could find: tight control of BSLs was helpful plus something about Statins and triglyceride lowering stuff (!!!) and in T2Ds, omega 3 oil.
You have excellent control of the 'd' on your side and all of us..:):):):) Hang in there !!
