    Going low at work

Hi, I was only making a suggestion in line with consultant & DSN guidance given to me as a starting point for poster. I did suggest speaking to their own team.

    Going low at work

Hiya, I hope you beginning to feel better now & please try & get over your embarrassment, it's happened but you can learn from it. You should eat after 20-30 mins after taking the Novorapid to give it time to get in to your system to balance out the carbohydrates you eat. It could be your basal...

Help! Run out of pump supplies

I also has problems with evening exercise & hypos. After a discussion with my consultant aswell as reducing basal by 80% I also 1/2 my bolus doseage for my teatime meal. Its achieved much better results. If I exercise in the morning I get away with 50% reduction in basal.

    Carb counting

I carb count everything on my plate but to do so it's essential to have the tools to do so. I use the carb and cal app, you can also buy it in book form from amazon. It makes life much easier for me to keep within range. Best of luck

    Type 1 Stress and T1

Hi, so sorry that you are having a terrible time. You should see your GP about the stress, if you live in Scotland there is a lot of mental health self help/self referral information on NHS inform website. I would speak to your diabetic team ASAP about increasing your insulin during this...

    Rising sugars on pump changeover

This also can happen to me. What has helped me but not always is to leave the old pod in place for at least an hour after the change. I'm reluctant to try a small bolus or temporary basal as the rise is inconsistent.

    Omnipod 5

Hi, this link is quite informative about omnipod 5. I'm on dash but hope that my health board will approve it https://forum.diabetes.org.uk/boards/threads/omnipod-5-when-will-it-be-available.99450/

    Post Breakfast Spike!

I can't tolerate bread at lunchtime, no matter what I do but fine at teatime. I've just gave up eating it at lunchtime as the mid afternoon spike left me feeling a bit sick. Hope you get it sorted

    Freestyle Libre Hot Weather WARNING

I use skin-prep by smith&nephew buy off amazon for hot & sticky weather. Once wiped it leaves the skin tacky. Also use it for omnipod dash.

What is the no 1 thing that frustrates you about living with type 1 diabetes?

The loneliness of it! That's why I love this forum. I bumped in to a lady last weekend when out, a couple of wines down & noticed her libre. We started chatting and both of us said the loneliness of it at the same time. She was only diagnosed 7 months ago after covid.

    hot weather

Hi Niamh, it is very common for BG to plummet in hot weather. I have been type 1 for 32 years and when using slow & fasting it never affected me but now on pump & just fast acting it can affect me. Was on a video Q&A last night through diabetes Myway & they recommended redusing your Bolus for...

What kind of pump do you use?

I have struggled with getting a stable BG since changing from pens to pods. A few days of being quite stable then a few days of lows. I follow all the diabetic rules for using a pump but my needs just keep changing. Anyway fingers crossed for omnipod 5. Can I ask where you live? Thsnks

Hi Joe, currently using omnipod dash but hopeful that NHS Scotland will roll out omnipod 5 on NHS by time I can upgrade pump

    out of control sugar levels

I am at the opposite side of the scale & have found being menopausal sucks. I use omnipod dash but changed to this about 18 moths ago, which was a coincidence to turning full blown menopausal. The good news is I got HRT which has helped a bit with fluctuations. Not as much as I would have loved...

Personal experience of the benefits of using a pump against pens

Hi All, I have been using omnipod dash pump & libre 2 sensor for 15 months now & my honest opinion is that it is such more difficult than insulin pens. I don't know whether it is because I have been told that I am insulin sensitive or not & with just using fast acting insulin 24/7 this makes a...

    Strange Pod Issue

I'm still sitting on the fence as to whether I prefer pods to pens. Think the pods are double edged swords. I can exercise now by reducing basal by 80% one hour before, during & one hour after but the threat of low BG can carry on for up to 12 hours after exercise. When on pens I'd reduce my...

    Omnipod dash

Hi Stew, how do you work out the 0.05 bolus? I would like to try this but don't know how to technically to do it. Do you plug in to the PDM a tiny amount of kid on carbs? Thanks
