    Remeron and other anti-depressants

I'm non-diabetic as far as I know and I'm currently taking 15mg a day of Mirtrazpine (Remeron) for the last 2 months or so. Does anyone know if it has an effect on blood sugar levels? Anti-depressants aren't known to change BS levels but just checking.

That's right yes, although it was an older one from this year, not the one he's currently using. Although I did first try on his one several times without success because I didn't actually do it properly. It kept getting error messages. It's only when I watched a YouTube video did I realise I...

Thanks for your responses and sorry to hear about your experiences. I'm just asking as I was curious but I am not diabetic, well, as far as I know but I may have a check up soon. My father is type 2 plus I am south asian which makes adds even more risk. I had one reading earlier this week...

    carbs and duration

Yes the GI factor is key with this then which means then can certain foods delay the first-stage insulin response even for non-diabetics? So say in a non-diabetic person, a helping of a chocolate bar and orange juice, which have has very low GI would induce a sharp, fairly swift spike...

That was quite extreme MBaker. I guess like me you've always had a sweet tooth. Those are some of the classic symptoms. Do you have a family history or other risk factors? Was the tingling in just your fingertips or your whole hands (and feet too)?

As the majority of people on here are diabetic or at least pre-diabetic, just curious to know what were your symptoms before your diagnosis? How long for and to what severity? I realise some don't get any but would you say the vast majority have at least one or two major symptoms? Was it...

Now I understand that blood sugar levels depend on what food you have, obviously. In general though, for a non-diabetic because their insulin response is fairly rapid, should they have their spike earlier? What kind of food though takes longer to absorb and for the insulin process to occur...

    confused and slightly confused

Thanks, yes I see that my reading of 7.0 was within the "normal" range 2 hours after a meal. I did read elsewhere on this site that some diabetics have just tried one weetabix and they've seen their bs skyrocket as a result. So surely it all depends on what you actually eat. The high carb...

    confused and slightly confused

I'm 34, male, 6ft2, healthy weight, never smoked, rarely drink etc. and no known conditions although I am taking mirtazipine for the last 2 months. I have a close direct relative, father, who has diabetes type 2 (diagnosed in mid 50s). I haven't tested my blood sugar level in years so I found...
