    Diabetes and the Hospital

Having coeliac disease as well, I used to have real problems with hospital food. Since I retired I've volunteered at our local hospital, and sometimes take my lunch break in the canteen which caters for staff, ambulant.patients and visitors. I've been pleasantly pleased by the knowledge shown...

    Hunger Pangs

I don't think anyone knows. I'm having a hungry day today and thinking of a lovely wedge of Wensleydale cheese with cranberries I have in the fridge and thinking of cutting myself a slice. I woke up this morning not feeling hungry and decided this was a 'fast until supper' day. Seems not...

    Hunger Pangs

My husband says he never ever feels full after a meal, and that its been the same during his whole life. I think he was born without an 'off' button to his appetite! I usually feel hungry about 1hr before a meal, but I've always put that down to my being the chief cook in the family so I am...

They had it almost right in 1958

They were amphetamines. I was prescribed some and they made me feel amazing, full of energy and raring to get stuck into every and all household chores. I'd clear out a room and start decorating, then I'd notice the bathroom needed attention so I'd start on that, then I would decide to do some...

    Attempting low carb again..

You're being a little hard on yourself don't you think? Just relax and take a deep breath and you can then take things slowly, think of that awful advert and tell yourself 'you are worth it'. The mistake I always make is that I want instant results and am willing to commit to stringent diet...

Do they have products like Hello Fresh, Blue Apron, and Sun Basket in the UK?

I can't decide whether you mean these firms are delivering ready to microwave meals like they do here in the UK, or just the ingredients for you to actually do the cooking yourself. I was imagining that you got a box of raw, fresh ingredients ready weighed out so all you had to do was follow the...

Do they have products like Hello Fresh, Blue Apron, and Sun Basket in the UK?

I've never seen those brands in the UK. I can see the attraction though, you get all the ingredients ready weighed, plus recipe card to make your own home cooked meal. Easy. I take it they're carb counted as well? What an opportunity for a young enterprising person here in the UK

not cheating and not losing weight

How tall are you, and what weight are you aiming for? The reason I ask is because I personally am very small and for nearly 20 years tried to lose weight on 1200cals which is what is usually advised for 'women'. Then I joined weight watchers and lost my weight on their original diet years ago...

    diet doctor question

I am on the limited free version and at first found it very helpful, and gthe recipes were different and tasty so I learned a lot. However the American weighing and unusual vegs and ingredients began to be a little frustrating especially when I was feeling tired after coming in from work...

    Food choices for LC diet.

I forgot about eggs and shellfish which are all good. I read lables of low fat yoghurts carefull though as they often have added sugar to compensate for the tastelessness on the fat removal. Most people stick to full fat yoghurt which is not so easy to find :(

    Food choices for LC diet.

As a relative newbie myself I am daring to comment - please don't take what I say as gospel. Are we talking Low Carb here, or healthy eating? And what does this mean, is it a typo?.... 'if is possible clean bread and pasta ......?' Not sure what you mean by 'clean' was it meant to be 'clear'...

    Dairy

I find its just too easy to be led astray by these Greek yogurts - they can be the 'low fat' or 'light' variety without you noticing when you pick them from the shelves dueing the weekly shop. When you read the information it seems they contain the same amount of carbs as the full fat variety -...

    sweet potato?

Celeriac is worth trying at 2.3g carbs per 100g weight. quote from Ledzeptt I have never learned to post a 'quote' sorry. I have to agree - try celeriac - if you boil it and mash it with cream and feta cheese it's difficult tell the difference between it and mashed potato. The only problem...

    sweet potato?

A dietician told me sweet potatoes were a good substitute for normal potato because they have a lower GI and take longer for the body to process. Couldn't understand the benefit really.

    Slimmers

Interesting. They stayed over Christmas and New Year and I often found myself almost cooking two meals in the evenings an the two almost 'opposing' methods clashed. In the end I was making bland boring meals from left over turkey and ham with plain boiled low carb veggies which were low carb...

    Slimmers

My Non diabetic SonIL is very overweight and is currently doing very well with weight loss by counting calories not cutting his carbs. I have become very well versed in creating tasty low carb meals which include quite a lot of cream and cheese, but when they came to stay with us over Christmas...

    Cannot cut off carbs

It was the original poster I was thinking of when I wrote that. Have I posted on the wrong thread? if so - apologies! The person who wrote the original post 'Cannot cut off carbs' doesn't seem to be responding as far as I can see.

    Cannot cut off carbs

I don't know how to do this 'quote' thing BUT About a week ago I wrote 'Are you taking this seriously or just having a good laugh at us all?' I'm annoyed with myself for taking this person seriously!

    Cannot cut off carbs

This may be bordering on the blasphemous, but does it really matter if nemiabonny's claim can be verified or not? The only problem I can see is that its dangerous to infer that others should go down the same route. Best not turn this into a private battle?
