What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Morning guys 6.9 this morning and just hoping a boiled egg and slice of toast hasn't done as much damage as yesterday's brekkie....raisins and cereal are not my friends apparently!

    Feeling in Limbo

Hi, I am in a similar situation and understand the feeling of being in limbo! My DN is sure it's type 1, the GP said it's unlikely to be type 1, and I saw the consultant last week who said we can't be sure yet but that I may be Type 1 in the 'honeymoon period' or 'there may be something else...

    Stopped taking meds......

I have certainly been eating a lot less carbs than prior to diagnosis so perhaps that is what it is. I've also tested again since and it was negative so that was a relief. Thanks everyone for your comments and support. I just hope I can get rid of the constant feeling of panic!

    Stopped taking meds......

Hi, just a bit of an update. I spoke to the DN and she seemed really confused about what's happening! She said to stop taking the tablets but to take insulin at a really small dose (2 units of insulatard twice a day) She also suggested I check for ketones as I'd not taken insulin for a few days...

    Stopped taking meds......

Hi June, my DN did mention the honeymoon phase last week as she was surprised my BG had dropped so quickly. I will give her a call tomorrow but my BG levels have been between 5.4 and 6.6 today without insulin or tablets since Fri night so I am too scared to take it.......

    Stopped taking meds......

Hi All, I had an awful night on Friday night as I was uncontrollably shaking but my BG was 6.2 so it wasn't officially a hypo. I had some juice and started to feel a little better and had some wholemeal toast. My BG went up but then came down again quite quickly. I was too scared to sleep so...

    Could I need more carbs??

She didn't specifically mention carbs but she did ask if I'd drastically changed my diet so I told her that of course I had as I wanted to do what I could to improve things for me. I'm eating regularly and a lot more veg and fish and enjoying my meals more. I'm thinking I may be Type 2 rather...

    Could I need more carbs??

Thank you- I did call her and my insulin has been reduced. She seemed quite flummoxed though with how I had got the levels down so much ....

    Could I need more carbs??

Thanks for your message. I am newly diagnosed but was not put on a basal bolus - I'm wondering whether they were awaiting antibody blood test results

    Could I need more carbs??

Hi, the nurse said all signs were pointing to type 1 on diagnosis but I received my antibody results after I posted yesterday and they were negative. The nurse was surprised and said they should have checked more than one type of antibody so I am none the wiser.......

    Could I need more carbs??

Hi All, I'm starting to feel really overwhelmed with everything and am feeling anxious about going back to work next week after my diagnosis as I am concerned I will not be able to manage my blood sugar very well. I am mostly concerned about lunch time as my BG seems to be going down to just...

Second diabetic nurse - wish me luck!

Good luck, hope you have a much better experience this time. Sounds as if you have done fantastically so far :)

    What type???

Thank you for your reply. I am waiting for an appointment with the diabetes specialist so will know more then I guess. I had a look at the info so thank you for that. I'm not very good with the unknown.....

    What type???

Hi All, This may sound like a silly question but is the antibody blood test the only way to tell whether you are Type 1? I was diagnosed almost 3 weeks ago after being sent to A&E with blood sugar of 21 and ketones 3+++ I am now injecting insulatard twice a day and taking gliclazide. The DN...
