How to raise BG without sugar?

My 'normal'BG is around 5.2 and when I drop to 5 my thigh muscles start seizing up and I get symptoms similar to hypos and these get worse the lower I go. I feel at my best around 5.6 but my problem is, if I use sugar based things to pick me up, the sugar causes me to have dreadful pains behind...

Muscles feel as though they are seizing up

Thank you for your reply. When I started LCHF in August I did use more salt and drank more but have just realised that I am not paying as much attention to this now. I will increase both salt and fluids and see if it helps. Thanks again.

Muscles feel as though they are seizing up

Hi Everyone, Has anyone felt as though their thigh muscles are seizing up? Two hours ago I ate half a round of small Burgen bread, buttered with roast beef and cheese on. One and a half hours after eating it I started very deep yawning and my thigh muscles have gone very tight. This isn't the...

Yes I did take the post prandial reading after first bite but take your point about it being quite low carb. I didn't think of that. Thanks.

When Do You Need To Treat A Hypoglycaemic Episode?

I fry them in a small amount of olive oil and a good knob of butter. Do you know whether, during the transition phase into Ketosis, does your body become more sensitive to carbs? Once again, I really appreciate your comments. Regards. Atlantico

When Do You Need To Treat A Hypoglycaemic Episode?

Hello again Mr Lamont, I played golf again today and was exhausted (certainly not above par and my golf was very definitely well below par!). I have Post Prandial Reactive Hypoglycaemia. Since 25 August this year I have been following the LCHF way of eating. When Do You Need To Treat A Hypoglycaemic Episode?

Hello D Lamont, I too am post prandial reactive hypoglycaemic and am really struggling. Can you have a hypo without dropping below a BG of 4 ? Today I got so shaky, no energy, couldn't think clearly. I was playing golf and reached our 12th hole (top of a big hill) and had to come off as I was so...

    Eating Extra Fat On Lchf

Once again, thank you for all your advice. As you say, the more you know, the better. I am sorry there was a typing error, I was diagnosed in 2010 with Post Prandial Idiopathic Reactive Hypoglycaemia. I understand they have now dropped the word Idiopathic when diagnosing PPRH. Kind regards.

Introduce Yourself: Answer Some Personal Questions

Thank you so much for your reply. I may has mis-led you as I am not on any meds. The ones I listed were all tried at different times. When none of these worked I was referred to 10 different dieticians in the following years, all with different approaches. I got the feeling they were probably...

    Eating Extra Fat On Lchf

Thank you, I have found all the abbreviations. Could you explain exactly what happens with Post Prandial RA? My understanding is that, in response to too many carbs the pancreas 'floods' the system with insulin. Surely this must be too much insulin for the amount of carbs and consequently...
