    Would you eat this?

From my understanding spikes are more damaging than having a more balanced BG (even if it's high). So yeah I agree with that

Applied for a free trial of a CKM (Continuous Ketone Monitor)

I didn't even know they existed. I pay a lot for my ketone strips (glucose strips and CGM I get for free).

    Would you eat this?

Beer makes me feel sick as well, probably because I drop so low. But I do it anyway. I am a naughty boy

    Would you eat this?

Yeah you might be right there. I just looked at my tin of tomatoes they're 9g of carbs (4.5 sugars) per 100g. I doubt I'd eat 100g (they're in a 250g tin though, so maybe I could). That said, it's not a huge amount

    Would you eat this?

An interesting (possibly) thing that happens to me is that a) I like beer. It will send me high initially -- and I'm talking more than 12 mmol/L. And then my BSL will drop like a rock, always below 3.9 unless I eat heaps of carbs (the curry would be good). I haven't managed to give it up yet but...

    Would you eat this?

Forget the curry, I'm more interested about the beers. The more of those I can have the better

    Would you eat this?

Something to consider (and you've noticed this!) In the the days before CGMs you'd probably have been testing at the time you ate your meal and 2 hours after. You probably wouldn't have even noticed that spike. You were back down in 3 hours. Not a big deal in my opinion. And, nah, you didn't...

A spike of +3 or +4 is worrying?

    Would you eat this?

I was actually going to mention that spike (it's a real spike) because it's a little bit unusual that it dropped again so quickly, but not something I've never seen before. It looks like it peaks at about 8 and then drops again just as quickly. Some of these graphs are misleading though because...

Question to Dexcom G6 users about estimated HbA1c.

Dexcom g6 doesn't give an estimated HbA1c. It gives what they (and others) have termed GMI. Yes, it's meant to be an estimated A1c but it's not: it could be higher or it could be lower and that's why they changed the term they use. Mine is generally within 0.5 but if it wasn't I wouldn't be...

    Would you eat this?

I'm not trying to me mean or anything, I just can't find anything about that +2 thing. I just went from 2.7 to 6.1. That's more than 2. A lot more. Is it a spike? I don't know I'll have to wait and see if it drops again. If it drops back to 2.7 then it's a spike. If not then it's not a spike and...

    Would you eat this?

Where is this "keep spike to +2" coming from? I can't find any evidence anywhere that says that except on this forum and I've asked before but nobody can give me an answer @IanBish yes I'd eat it. I don't see a problem there personally. Is there something specifically you're concerned about?

    CGMs and constantly checking them

When I was on Libre I checked maybe 20-30 times a day. Now that I have dexcom g6 I only check once every 15 minutes (so maybe 72 times a day). I can't help myself

Should I start on Insulin ?

I don't think that everyone who's on insulin gains weight. I've lost weight (a lot) since I've been on insulin. I don't attribute this to insulin, though, but changes I made to my diet (i.e. going low carb, and low carb for me is not 1g a day).

    Who’s to blame ?

I hope I haven't been misunderstood. I have no issue at all with low carb eating and until recently that is the way I ate (I now have two slices of bread for lunch most days so can't say I'm a low carb eater anymore, but until recently when I added the lunch sandwich to my diet I was definitely...

    Who’s to blame ?

I don't know the biochemistry well enough to give a reasonable answer. I'm responding to @Antje77 as well here so am keeping this response kind of general. I tried the keto diet (even though it's classified as a fad diet unless for epilepsy control under medical supervision, and don't blame me...

    Who’s to blame ?

I didn't mean to bad mouth people, I was referring specifically and only to a diet (not people who choose to follow it). My deadly comment wasn't hyperbole

    Who’s to blame ?

Not many people agree with my view and I won't mention it again after this. I know people on here have had great success with Keto and that's great. From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_diets#Fad_diets Since anyone can edit Wikipedia perhaps we should. We could add "diabetes control"...

    Who’s to blame ?

If I go into ketosis, for example, there's a very good chance that I will die. I know that the majority of people on here think that keto is good, but that's just rubbish
