    Getting a pump at last.

Pumps are very life changing. It's a bit like being on a roundabout that turns slowly around and arounnd but doesn't actually stop so the work and adjusting basal rates or bolus will be an ongoing thing but we all get used to it so good luck with how life goes for you with a pump.

    G5 sensor acclimatisation

Try setting an alarm on mobile to wake you up about 2hrs before you would get up for breakfast and activate the 2hr warm up on the sensor. This will give the body time to get used to the sensor wire being inserted before the warm up starts and the transmitter and sensor should prompt for a bg...

    Cannot stop pattern of hypos

Insulin like Novorapid has an acting time of about 5-6 hrs and tends to have a sting in its tail towards the end resulting in low bg levels. Although adjusting the basal might help, often it's easier to just eat a small snack to prevent the low and use bg testing and trial and error to fix the...

    t2 and numb left foot

Ally try to put plenty of vaseline on your lips before bed and also during the day. Also, use a thickish straw to drink any fluid through so that the vaseline isn't washed off. Drink plenty of water as well. Hopefully, your physciatrist might be able to change your anti physcotic med to...

Diabetes Alert Dogs and the BBC

We've had 3 dogs......all small and all like children. Wherever we went the dogs came with us and always slept on or in our bed during the night and often had our food as well. All of them were useless as hypo detection dogs but loved it when I was low. They knew that yummy food has coming and...

    Dexcom G5 with XDrip

You don't need a smartwatch if you don't have one.......its optional and can be activated from the xDrip settings menu. All you need to download is xdrip+ (follow the link given in fbook) and then instal it on yr phone.

I don't use Nightscout because I don't want to share my data with Dexcom or anyone else. I just use my phone to be the receiver and send the data to my pebble watch when I want to so everything is done offline

Can we push insulin through on the Medtronic pump?

I don't clip my pump to the outside of my skirt or trousers. I nearly always have it inside my bra where it gets fairly warm so it does make sense to me, to get the insulin in the cartridge up to the same temp before inserting it in the pump. Any bubbles will always appear that way so I can...

Opsite Flexifix - how much do you pay?

I haven't bought Opsite for a while as I thought that it was a lot of money for a cardboard roll and unless covering my transmitter and sensor completely, was complicated separating the backing sheet from the film. I reverted to using Tegaderm 6x7 cm patches and they are very easy to use. I...

    G5 CGM mobile compatibility

I have an old Moto G xt1032 that was updated to android 5.1 and xDrip G5 beta was installed. I don't use Nightscout as zi don't want to share my data with anyone except my smartwatch which xdrip does very well. I'm very happy with it all. I'm going to tag @CapnGrumpy to get his feedback to...

I found that my mdi carb ratio was a bit more correct than the ratio my pump dsn started me off on.

    Insight pump

Try keeping the pump vertical with the tubing joining at the bottom and not at the top. That way any bubbles won't go into the tubing and will stay in the cartridge as bubbles rise to the top.

It was such good advice to test before and after meals.

I found that eating more fat but less carb tended to make my bg levels go up a bit after a week or so and my bodyweight also increase a little bit so I just increased my basal by about 1u over 24hrs
