    What am I doing wrong?

Some of us would find those oats for breakfast a real problem, they can raise some peoples BG's very much. Also we are often more sensitive to carbs first thing in th emorning, and our bodies find then harder to processthem then, than it does if we ate them later in the day.

Why Do Some People Not Care?

Yes that's what I was trying to say - when we see all these apparant bad choices it's often not that people don't care but that they have had inadequate advice. My own brother in law who I quoted upthread, who says that he eats what he wants and just takes the tablets, has not had things...

Why Do Some People Not Care?

Sometimes it is just sheer ignorance of how our bodies work and cause and effect, particularly if you are told to rely solely on a six monthly Hba1c. I have just been at a function that provides a full breakfast, I know that one of my colleagues, is a fellow T2 and from what has been said in...

    did i over do it?!!

As a veggie I eat quorn a lot, but I never use their ready prepared meals as you have found out they are WAY to carbiferous. I make my own meals using the quorn mince, but even things like their sausages have to be watched, they used to have a 3gm of carb each now they have 5gm each, and maybe...

    Hunger pangs...

This is where you need to experiment a bit, as an apple doesn't fill me and raises my BG - I experimented only a week or two back. One braeburn apple with Cheese and my bg went from 6.2 (ish) to 9.6 I find a handful of nuts works - though the problem with that is sticking to just one...

    Hunger pangs...

Hi Sarnie I steer clear of bread/pasta/potaoes and rice, though we are all different. I can't eat anything wheat based, but can get away with some potatoes and a (very) small amount of basmati rice. Others can eat a slice or two of the burgen bread. I can, as I said before, eat a reasonable...

    Really need help.....

I don't know anything about your sisters medication, but it seems like you have been making a good start between you with what you are planning. There may be others coming along who can advise you better than I can..

    Hunger pangs...

It was my dietican too, who told me to eat carbs, 40% of my food was to be carb. I was also told by her and the practice nurse who looks after the diabetics, that on no account was I to low carb. I eventually ignored them and though I would say I reduce carb, not low carb, as though I don't eat...

    Depression and Diabetes

You are obvipoulsy having a bad time I am so sorry, and sorry I can't offer any advice except to see your GP regarding the depression your partner is suffering from. Maybe someone more exienced with T1 will be able to offer more suggestions. xxxx

    Hunger pangs...

I too used to have hunger pangs when I was eating the carb based breakfast, advised by the dietican. I would have two rounds of wholemeal toast and would be ravenous by 11.00am. I now eat something like an omellette and mushrooms and can go until lunchtime without snacking.

    NHS saves money on T2's

It would be cheaper to give you a blood test than to keep visiting the GP

    chocolate

That's the brilliant thing about the co-op 85% chocolate, they make a 40gm bar which is more than enough for a treat, without being tempted to eat the whole 100gm bar (which I would do). One bar does no affect my BG at all and is sufficient for one of those ladies chocolate emergencies. If I...

    Bread and Me.

Maybe two slices were just to much for carb for you, why not try one slice, to see if you can manage it?

Feeling cold when it's not cold

Since reducing carbs I have lost the hot all the time feeling and instead I am frequently cold, very cold. But I have also found as a woman of a certain age, that I am not getting hot flushes but cold flushes, I didn't know they existed but my doctor confirms that they are indeed a symptom of...

    chocolate

No I am talking about the 85% they have changed it recently and the carb content is higher than it used to be. :(

    chocolate

Has anybody else noticed that the carb content of green and blacks chocolate has risen lately. It used to be about 17gm (I think) per 100gm, now it is 22gm per 100gm.

Why Do Some People Not Care?

Actually when I need a treat I eat a meringue with fresh cream, one nest has 12gm carb - I have seen yogurts with higher amounts. Meringue may be just sugar and egg white but it is whisked until it spread a long way. And it has no other carbs in it such as flour. I have been 'told off' by a...
