What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

6.7 this am. No obvious reason, it was 5.9 before bed last night, it’s been in the low 6s all week. But today was the first day since installing that the meter and Libre agreed.

    Beware the label!

The second column in mg is more reliable - it’s over 20% sugar/carbs!

    1st diabetic review

I'm on meds for high blood pressure, have been for years. They've kept it under control with no noticeable side effects. Having now started Metformin I am finding my blood pressure can be very low in the mornings, almost to the point I have to slow down until my body catches up. Its noticeably...

    Night Sweats

I've been having these sweats & waking up during the night for some time, prior to formal diagnosis this year. I'd been putting it down to 'hormones' even though I'm long past menopause. Now checking the newly installed Libre sensor chart I can see that my BG takes a massive dive during the...

    Fitness watch which is best

I didn’t know that there is a watch with a sensor but I really like my Apple Watch for swimming. Used with the Apple Fitness App, it monitors heart rate & pace, identifies the strokes correctly (apart from Aqua-fit! ) & gives plenty of data for improving performance. I previously used Fitbit but...

    First Libre Help

I’m on day 3 of my Libre trial. After a false start with a defective sensor, which Abbot replaced, it seems to be functioning fine. I’m not sure that I trust the numbers exactly, because the finger prick tests with my bog standard meter differ - both higher & lower. But the pattern is...

Started Metformin a couple of weeks ago

I wouldn’t be disappointed about the lack of side effects! I didn’t get any from Metformin for 2 or 3 weeks. I’d begun to think they were overhyped when it happened, very suddenly & explosively. Not nice at all. It’s happened since but not often & I now recognise the onset so can run for cover...

The reason I’m sticking with a CGM

Hi I’ve just started my trial of the Libre 2, it’s fascinating to get real time bio feedback on consumption of foods, and effect of activities too. The other thing I’m finding really helpful is the MyNetDiary food app, to keep a record of food consumption. I only have the free version but I’m...

Libre 2 - failure at first hurdle?

Replacement Libre 2 now successfully applied and working. So it was just a duff sensor. Some interesting data coming through, although it’s reading a bit low compared to finger pricks. I’ll be testing the water resistance of the adhesive next week, as I swim a lot. [emoji474]‍♀️

Libre 2 - failure at first hurdle?

Yes followed to the letter, I’d spent a while figuring out how to do it. I filled in the online replacement form & Abbott were fine, they’re sending me another. So I’ll have another go.

Libre 2 - failure at first hurdle?

Thanks for all the info. I would try calling Libre but the last time ( I had a mundane query about shipping) I was on hold for 30 plus minutes and even then they didn’t give me a straight answer. I’ll abandon this trial and start another once I get another sensor. It’s been useful as I now...

Libre 2 - failure at first hurdle?

I’m new to glucose monitoring, T2 diagnosed earlier this year. Have been stabbing fingers daily (sometimes several times) since to get an idea of blood glucose levels. Thought it would be useful to try a CGM to get more data, so got the free trial Libre 2 from Abbott. Read everything I could...

    Breakfast

I eat eggs so my options are wider - today’s treat was omelette & smoked salmon, kept me going until tea time. Other favourites are Rhubarb stewed with sweetener plus Greek yoghurt Smoked haddock/cod poached in milk Cottage cheese with a couple of slices of Bresaola/ prosciutto, or a few prawns.
