    What are you reading?

Thats what i do- i read for enjoyment so if after a good few chapters, i don't get into it i don't finish the book. I have a bit of a pile of books that i need to get around to reading. I have read all of the Adrian Mole books- when he was an agonised 13 3/4 so was i so i fell that Adrain and...

    Diabetics and stressful careers

Interesting thread. My job can be very damanding, and is even more so than ever. My levels are slightly higher than usual (I am normally between 6 and 10, getting between 7 and 12 at the mo. Due for HB1AC this month, so we shall see.

    What are you reading?

Ohhhh that sounds like a good read- my tastes are varied. I have also just read "the criminal advocates survival guide"- it's non fiction but interesting and I learned a few tricks!

Day Break and my live appearance..

I am usually wrong... Wasn't too far out with Jo, just expected very long straight hair. Don't ask me why, my mental pictures have a mind of their own.

    What are you reading?

Just being nosey really... So what book are people reading right now (or the last book you read) and would you recommend it? I have just finished "mini shopaholic" by Sophie Kinsella. Not exactly intellectual stuff but very funny. Just about to start Tony Blairs book, not sure how I will get...

Day Break and my live appearance..

Lovely story Jo, just shows how a rescue dog will repay you a thousand times over in loyalty and freindship! I love dogs, but have cats simply because I don't have the time to loom after a dog properly. A mere 28 years to retirement when I have promised myself a dog!!! Nice to put a face to the...

    How does T2 Progress?

Welcome Geoff. Great post, is always good to hear from people who have had hood control for sometime!

    How does T2 Progress?

Absolutely Annie. And we have tools and knowledge of diabetes (this site being a prime example) which your Mum never had access to back then.

    How does T2 Progress?

Spot on pp. Either we don't look after our selves and assure ourselves of complications or we do our best to make sure we stay healthy. I see a prime example of poorly controlled diabetes nearly everyday and I am damned if I end up like her (lovely person as she is).

    How does T2 Progress?

I didn't realise my HB1AC was much higher than a non diabetic's. I intend to stave off meds or insulin for as long as i can!

    How does T2 Progress?

Daz there is every point!!! Like me you will be diabetic for a long time so need to slow it down. My lovely GP couldn't stress enough how much of a difference I can make. The other option is to sit back and let it win. There is a lady who works in my building. A fellow t2. I guess she is about...

    How does T2 Progress?

I asked my GP the very same question... She told me I can slow progression hugely but the rate of progression very much depends on my control. As I am "relatively young" for a t2 (39 at dx) she thinks I will progress because I will be diabetic for a long time (I suppose the other option is less...

    1 Dry Foot!

You do need to get a diagnosis. I have very dry feet, I did pre diagnosis so for me it isn't diabetes related. I find putting lashings of very thick foot cream on my feet then wearing moisturising socks all night really helps.

    Cost saving strategies

I agree it is a disgraceful way to treat someone. Perhaps a sweeping change to all metformin prescriptions has been brought in at your surgery. If I were in your shoes I would make an appointment to discuss my poorly tummy with my GP in the hope of getting it changed back. Good luck
