Intermittent fasting - cure for diabetes?

Actually, in one of his videos I believe he talks about how T2 diabetes has been "reversed" in various patients. To me that indicates a cure. And he talks about how the medical establishment says T2 is chronic and incurable, and he disagrees. That's what I remember anyway.

    How to Lower A1c

I highly recommend the Yummly app. Just do a search for keto or low-carb, and you'll find tons of great recipes. Or find a recipe you like and make your own version.

Intermittent fasting - cure for diabetes?

I think he says it has helped T1. It may not cure it, but it may help reduce insulin intake etc. I can't remember exactly what was said. It would be worthwhile to read up on him. Maybe google Jason Fung and Type 1, see what comes up.

Intermittent fasting - cure for diabetes?

I'm actually trying it now. 16 hours, but I make sure to have coffee in the morning to let my liver know I'm not starving myself. That way it doesn't release more glucose into my system.

Intermittent fasting - cure for diabetes?

I don't think he necessarily says no meat. I think a lot of recipes in his book have meat in them, mostly fish.

    My progress in reversing T2

I think it was Dr Jason Fung (advocate of Intermittent fasting for reversing T2) who said that after reversal, if you have a higher carb meal, have a fasting day with liquids (16 hours or something, can't remember) in order to give your liver a chance to empty its glycogen stores again. Look up...

    So So Pleased

Congratulations! I'm so, so happy for you. I was diagnosed about 7 months ago, and I am working to reverse it as well. I'm going through a rough patch right now (insomnia), but it's good to be reminded as much as possible that it can be done.

I tried this tonight and it turned out great. I cooked it for an extra few minutes under the broiler to make them crispier. https://www.wholesomeyum.com/recipes/crispy-parmesan-zucchini-fries/#comments

Some interesting info on statins. This isn't about diabetics in particular, but still worth reading.

    Insomnia

@Belzedar thank you for this. Very interesting, and it makes total sense. I'm going to have to try this. I'm determined to reverse diabetes, so it's important to me to get this insomnia licked. Thanks again!

    Insomnia

I've also just been reading that it can take a few days for melatonin to make a difference for some people. So I'll keep taking that for a bit.

    Insomnia

I may just go to my gp and get some sleeping pills. I hate to do that, but you do what you have to do. I do have a specialist, but I really don't find her very helpful.

    Insomnia

Thanks everyone. I've tried pretty much everything. I took 10 mg melatonin last night and I was so sleepy, thought it would take no time at all. There was a few times it felt like I would drift off, but no luck. One of the frustrating things is, I can fall asleep at 6 or 7 a.m. and would be able...

Thanks @Sue192 I haven't tried Nytol, but I have tried Benedryl, which has the same active ingredient (diphenhydramine).
