New Type 2, Questions & Concerns

Thanks for the tag there @Goonergal much appreciated! Now there's a lot of good advice up above already which is coincidentally the same advice that lead to my rather dramatic drops in HBA1C and weight plus just getting my danged life in order. I was diagnosed at 27 myself and I went through...

    Update on the me!

Hello hello my diabetic and non-diabetic darlings, merry Christmas and happy holidays to you all  My my it had been a fair few months, almost feels like a year when it’s only been since around august. First things first I’m sorry for suddenly disappearing like that and I truly do...

    Hi

Hello hello @worriedwart and welcome to the young type 2 club! Sounds like you have had a rough time of it. First I would say to get yourself to the docs to get your eyes and so on looked at, if I remember rightly you said you were having other issues? Well it’s time to get that looked into...

    Please Advise

Let thine meter be your guide and let your guide be thine meter. Some people can take it especially if they are active buuuut I am with @HSSS and that doesn't go straight in my basket anymore. I'd avoid it and go for the cauli rice, absorbs a lot more flavour in my opinion.

    29, just diagnosed, feeling hopeless

What? Who is this me that you speak of? I do not know this man ;) Thanks for the tag @Scott-C that means a heck of a lot! Okay it's time to breathe for a while and let it all settle in for a while but it will be okay and Scott is completely right I did come from that sort of background myself...

    First few days testing

Honestly not too high and it could be that your body and liver especially are used to a higher number so it's trying to get you back up there. Took a fair few months for me to be seeing 5's and 4's in a morning. Your postprandial numbers are looking great and your outside of mealtime numbers...

Type 2 Just diagnosed type 2

I concur with Brun, filling things out will help us help you but I would say that adjustments that bring your levels down will have an effect on your body. In the 'business' it's usually called false hypos as the body is used to running a certain level and suddenly reducing it will make it panic...

Hi Stewart! Welcome to our merry little band, feel free to look around and ask ALL the questions like we all have done. I do hope that you enjoy your stay and that is a great career to be in as well. Hopefully you can show off some of the games you’ve worked on too.

    Metformin at bedtime

Metformin has a gentle effect upon blood sugars, I say you should have taken it and gone to see your GP about perhaps reducing them. Even though I am being VERY hypocritical because I quit the metformin a long time before the GP took me off of it. You’re doing very well though so kudos to you...

    Type 2 When to stop

It’s a good way to get your body used to being lower so it is your new norm and it stops making you feel so wretched at the levels in the 4’s but like @Guzzler said, listen to the hunger signals and don’t overload your body :)

    Carbohydrates as an addiction

Wanted to weight in on this myself but been busy skipping around north Wales on holiday but checking in when I can. I enjoy carbs, I love myself some root veg and all that stuff along with rice on its own and pasta but I don’t consider myself an addict at all in that context, I miss the...

    Newly Diagnosed and Confused

Hey hey and thanks for checking in there! This is all a good start there despite the steroids being part of your life. Weight loss will follow once you have the BG levels put together again. Trust me on that I only started losing a good amount of weight once I had it all under control, once your...
