    Type 1?

Google "Honeymoon Phase diabetes" - it is something that some diabetics experience. Moreso T1's but I have heard of instances with all types.

    New Member Carry on Ken

Hi, and welcome to the forums! I'm in the US, so I can't answer on the specifics but there are plenty of wonderful people on here to help with that. Hope you enjoy your time here.

    You're welcome.

    Is this to be expected?

Are you a T1 or a T2? I know some people have what is known as a "honeymoon phase" that you could possibly look up. Some others (me included) are more sensitive to insulin during either extreme heat or cold - heat for me. Stress could also play a part in it - and if nothing else, blame the...

    Quick sugar foods

I use the 4 oz containers of Juicy Juice or an 8 oz can of regular Cherry Coke (depending on where I am - at home Juicy Juice, out of house the Coke).

    Hypo treatment Slow to act

I use a 4 oz box of Juicy Juice at first, then wait 15 minutes and test again. If I'm still low, another 4 oz box of Juicy Juice and 3 pb and honey crackers. This advice came from my NP who is also a T2 insulin-dependent diabetic.

    Nutrition and supplements

My dermatologist recommended the Vitamin D3 for me and my mom because we both have extremely fair skin (burn at the drop of a hat) and we don't get out in the sun much.

    Nutrition and supplements

I just take a miltivitamin and Vit D3, along with BP and T2 oral meds and insulin.

    confused about milk carbs

I use what we in the US call light cream (think it's regular cream on your side of the pond). I tried heavy whipping cream (double cream for you) and it tasted weird. I also sometimes put .5 T of dark cocoa in my coffee, moreso during the winter when I am craving hot chocolate.

Which BG monitor do you use?

For a while I've been using 2 different meters and seeing which one is more "efficient". But, I'm switching insulins when all my paperwork gets filled out and signed. My NP wants me to stick with just 1 for a while so that I'm not using varying numbers while I'm getting used to dosing the new...

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

Yes, I am still on premix, until my next prescription comes in from the drug companies. Then I will switch from a premix to basal/bolus. Still, the T2's here are encouraged to test, although insurance only provides 1 strip a day for T2's not on insulin. I'm going through this battle with my...

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

Every time I go to see my NP, the first thing she wants to see is my readings. I use mySugr and print out my log every week. I also save the PDF that I print it from. I'm just appalled by the way the GP's and the DSN's treat most of the type 2's over there in England.

Hi, @Fordy13 and welcome to the forums. I'm from the US, so I can't really help you with medicines and such. But, what I can do is listen to you if you need to vent and/or celebrate with you when you have achieved something you have tried hard to do. Hope you read up in the different forums...
