Hi all, after using a blood sugar monitor and finger pricking 4 times a day, i have conveyed the readings over two weeks to my diabetes nurse. With i might add the inclusion of 40mg Glickazide in the second week and a massive turnaround in my diet, practically cutting out all sugary foods and learning to live with the benefits of changing to lower carb meals,
My DN said my results were really good and that on average my blood glucose levels are around 8.2 My lowest reading was 6.0 my highest was 12.2,but that reading was taken prior to starting the Glickazide.
Now only using the monitor twice a day hopefully, i can maintain my glucose levels to between 6 and 10 max, and still have the occasional sweet treat, and a glass or 2 of wine/ beer. However im still diagnosed as type 2 but the moral of my story is, and ive read it so many times on here when your newly diagnosed it feels like your life has all but ended. Being told this n that, and you will now lead a life of food restrictions etc etc, well it does not always have to end like that. As with everything that i have read, and learned, the key word especially for myself and , i know we are all different and that our type 2 diagnosis is managed accordingly with medical advice, but for me i will continue to enjoy all of what i enjoy but now in MODERATION. That along with a healthier diet should hopefully keep my blood glucose levels to an acceptable number, which for me is between 6.0 and 10.0.
