Mothers Day 3 Course blow out - have I beat diabetes?

Just done another test at 3hrs and it came back at 5.4 I don't think for a minute I could eat like this every single day but I 'feel' like my beta cell function has improved in the 3 years since diagnosis as a meal like that early on into my low carb lifestyle would have without doubt give me...

Mothers Day 3 Course blow out - have I beat diabetes?

5.4 before the meal and 6.1 two hours after. Ate garlic bread, Moussaka with rosemary potatoes (lots of) Millionaire shortbread. That's a HUGE amount of carbs for me and normally I eat 50g in an entire day. I'm not complacent but I feel like I've beat diabetes.... I'll be back to low...

High readings on low carb - starting to get stressed.

Your diet sounds good and very low carb. It's early days yet so try to be patient. Test yourself pre meal and 2 hours after. Don't worry about morning blood sugars at this stage as it's likely you are getting 'liver dumps' due to the new diet. Keep up the good work!

Is it really the same chance as a non-diabetic? I hope so but I haven't seen any evidence to that effect.

OK, so how much weight did you put on over Christmas?

None really. Only drank dry white wine or vodka with diluted orange and lots of walking after meals. [emoji4]

    HbA1c down 91 to 35 in 3 months

I remember a bariatric consultant on a documentary talking about hunger. His take was we are mammals and we appear to have forgot that hunger is a perfectly normal state and that's why the body stores energy.

    Low-Carb Life Hacks

I have a virus atm and I'm trying to up my carbs to fight it - weirdly I find it difficult so I just munch on a couple of chocolate bars. When I'm well I can do less than 10g of carbs per day but that took hours of research.

    HbA1c down 91 to 35 in 3 months

Congratulations! That's an amazing achievement. Similar to my story but much faster. I'm pretty sure the excess fat around our organs is a major contributory factor to complications. What's your secret tip to keeping hunger at bay? Meanwhile, enjoy your new found good health.

    Cholesterol results -Appt today at2.20pm

They are slightly better results from last time. It's a good point about the TC. As I have the hba1c profile of a non diabetic I think they should be happy that I'm under 5.
