My diet is moderately good, but working improving further! My idea of a diabetic shop is quite bleak - no sugar, low carbs, small amount of fruit with restrictions on sweeter types such as my favourite - bananas☺

I wrote recently about beating the evil weed, which subsequently sent my B'S fromantic 6- 7 up to 11- 13. I have been vigilant on food front whilst I wait, and hope this will level out sometime. But since just before Christmas my energy levels have dropped - today I am exhausted after shower. I...

    metformin. can't do it anymore

Hate to be a downer, but my experiences with SR are not much better. Actually came on here because I too have had it with Metformin - been on it a few years and it seems to have got worse over time. Not to say SR won't work for you.

    Fallen off the wagon?

Thanks for reply, yes, I think I've answered my own question. I have been googling the issue and there is very strong evidence that either starting to smoke or quitting can most definitely up sugar levels even in non db's - hence such a huge rise in short time span! Now to work on lowering them...

    Fallen off the wagon?

Thanks for reply I am really pleased to be off the evil weed - your humour put a smile on my face ☺ I have researched and it seems giving up smoking can temporarily up blood sugars in anyone, db or not, for up to 3 years. Now how to figure out how to lower them in less that 3 years

I had ear surgery in May and my fasting sugar was 7.1, so what has gone wrong? I haven't been so hot on my sugar...

    First Day so far

What else do you eat in place of bread if you don't mind me asking. I am not a big eater and for breakfast I have plain mini shredded wheat or porridge with just blueberries to help combat blandness eaten with almond milk. Lunch usually sandwich of Wholewheat bread but feel pretty sure one slice...

    Metformin Question

I'm really not happy with Metformin - I am going to ask GP ti change it. Recommendations would be appreciated as i see there are a couple of alternatives and wonder about potential side effects of these. Loo reference above I can relate to and I am on SR as side effects of the others were worse!

    Metformin Question

I was interested to read a post via fb page this morning in relation to Meformin, in which a member had been moved from Metformin to another med for Type 2, a reply said that as Metformin helps lose weight, the alternative drug was more suiitable for T2s who are not overweight. I am one of...
