Bit of a whinge and a question???

Thank you all, will have a think about how I am using it. Always take the Levemir in the morning, but maybe will try and move it a bit later in the day and see what happens. I don't like to eat before bed, even a small snack as I find I don' sleep well, but might have to give it another try.

Bit of a whinge and a question???

Have been diabetic for almost 20 years, originally Metformin (took longer than it should to diagnose so diet only wasn't an option), which was effective on its own for over eight years, then adding various other oral meds. Had a heart attack 8 years ago, the long recovery didn't help the...

Dapaglifloxin - anyone had any experience with this?

Hi - have just recently been prescribed the above to use in conjunction with Metformin, Novorapid and Levemir. I understand the basic principles of this, but am wondering how long after starting treatment I should notice any benefits as, to be honest, I am almost a week in and all it has done...

    5:2 fast diet

Hi All Just discovered this thread after posting elsewhere!! Am Type II on Metformin, Levemir and Novorapid. Diabetic nurse has always told me, if you miss a meal miss the Novorapid dose, so am happy with that for lunchtimes, but am a little concerned about the long acting Levemir. Can those...

5:2 Diet - has anyone on Insulin tried this?

Hi All Havent been around for a while - feeling really sorry for myself over the summer - seemed no matter what I did my weight was creeping upward. I am almost back at the heaviest weight I have ever been (about 6 years after I was diagnosed, and 6 months after a heart attack 5 years ago :( )...

    Eat to Meter?

Bit 'off topic' but have now managed to get as many testing strips from my doctor as I need. I changed to insulin last summer, surrendered - and got back - my driving licence from DVLA, with the paragraph that says 'you should test every time you get behind the wheel'. I work as an estate agent...

    Mashed Potato Substitute/Dreamfields Pasta

Hi All Has anyone tried any of the 'Instant Mashed Potato' substitutes that are available on various sites? I'm fairly new to low-carbing, and my other half is really supportive, but am struggling with this one because the only way I can stomach using mashed cauli instead is using cheese -...

New to this - couple of questions if no-one minds?

Hi Jane - many thanks for the response. I'm just worried that if the calorie intake drops too low, then 'starvation' mode will kick in and it will all backfire on me - not quite sure what that point is :? Many thanks - will go have a look later when I get home from work.

    Food list

Hiya - may help, may not, but I use an app on my Android phone - MyFitnessPal - which lists loads of ready made, and 'basic' foods together with their carb/fat/protein contents. Keeps an eye on what you're eating, calories and carb counts for the day - finding its really helping so far, but am...

New to this - couple of questions if no-one minds?

Have had 'low(ish) carbing' suggested by my diabetes team at the hospital, but as this is so alien to all advice I have been given over the last decade, am not quite sure where to start, and what is what!!! Have been referred for a dietician appt but this wont be for at least another month. SO...

Re: Comments on Low carb diet - a newbies guide Many thanks for this topic but wonder if anyone can give me a little more advice. End of my tether - again!

Really don't know what the right question is anymore, or who to ask  Was switched to insulin about 2 months ago now, since when I have been struggling to get levels stable again. Over the last couple of weeks seem to have, finally, started to get them levelling out, but now have another...

    DVLA

ANyone any idea how long DVLA usually take to respond? I filled in the humungous form of theirs late in May (anticipating a change to insulin which came on the 28th) and posted the form to them approx 1st June. I have still heard nothing from them - is this normal? And, what should I expect? I...
