    Carb eating - BBC News

This is true. Id blood taken from a vien always much higher than a finger prick? I had a fbg done a few days ago with my hbalc, so I guess I will find out. I too would love to know the insulin levels. I wonder why they didnt take them.

    Carb eating - BBC News

I too am very curious about the measurements. I think a reading of 15.9 would not be expected at all, unless they were all diabetic. Unless I have missed something? Entirely possible, as I have yet another cold and am feeling yuk.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Thank you. Unfortunately it seems to be only up and never down! Used to be in 4s and low 5s, now rarely below 6 and that's a good reading. I am going to up my walking and see if it helps. Don't eat much in the evenings anyway and the liver block thing just seems to make no difference.

New to this and don't have a clue.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Not much to add about the excellent advice about diet etc, just perhaps have you tried slow release metformin? Many people can tolerate that and it is a good drug. I too am hypothyroid and if you are adequately medicated you really should not have more problems...

    When to stop metformin?

Does any one know how often kidney function should be monitored? My surgery forgot to put me in for a retinopathy test and didn't recall me for an hbalc, so I am not trusting them to let me know! Thanks

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Hello all. 6.6 today. Don't really know what to do. My numbers are creeping up and I have no idea how to bring them down. I have had a sicky few weeks, but am much better now. I have not changed diet, exercise etc so don't think its anything I have done. Any advice? Thanks all.

    Fruit

I think a huge problem has been the change in fruit that has over taken us in the last 50 years without any of us really noticing. I belong to a farm labourer family and used to go and help pick apples, pears etc when I was a child. (loads of health and safety laws broken!). But all the fruit...

Absolutely nothing to do with this thread, so apologies for the derailment, but can I ask about your picture? Who is that man? Whats his story?

Type 2 Confused Type 2 or Type 1.5?ider

It is most frustrating to have lost the recommended amount of weight and still be diabetic, and it must be even more so if you have undergone surgery. I have lost about 6 stone and am still diabetic, although slap bang in the middle of my ideal weight range. Unfortunately, for some of us weight...

Type 2 No/Lo Carb Diet to Induce Diabetic Remission

May I sk how long it took before you noticed a difference? And did you lose much weight or was it purely a change in diet that you think made the most difference?

    Poor info

Thanks all. Don't know the name of the group, but he is absolutely convinced of its rightness!! Don't really know what to say to him. I have given him this forums address, so he might look it up. But I think he sees anyone who is not employed by the NHS as just out to make money or a quack. The...

    Accuracy of scales

My new digital, bmi, body fat,make-a-cup-of-tea etc scales make me a few kgs heavier than my old salter ones. I liked my old ones. I could lose 5kgs just by moving backwards. The new ones hate me.

    Poor info

A friend of mine went on a short t2d course last year. His tutor told him, in essence to eat what he liked but only eat smaller portions. He was not very clear about what is meant by a smaller portion but he has certainly embraced the "eat what you like" part. His wife is far more knowledgeable...
