Petition for Freestyle Libre on NHS

There are research articles that show the average person with type one diabetes tests 1-3 times a day. With the libre in the trial phase this increased to 15. I've seen the documentation as I was chosen as part of the trial. It's easy to say that those who finger prick do so less often than me...

Petition for Freestyle Libre on NHS

Hi there. I have one and I can't imagine going back to strips. It's convenient, easy, spots trends and rather than just giving you a blood sugar it also shows an arrow indicating whether ur sugars are rising, falling or stable. It's ingenious!!!! Try! Try! Try! It's a shame about the cost. My...

Petition for Freestyle Libre on NHS

I understand what you mean, but I also feel that it's highly beneficial for all diabetics especially to chart patterns and gain better control and understanding and patterns relating to our T1. I buy my own and at £100 a month it's expensive. I do not need a prescription of testing strips (which...

Hi Gemmy I can't give any more advice than above, I can add I'm a type 1 diabetic and I find following a low gi diet works well for me in terms of co trolling sugars. Freestyle libre (again)

Hi there. I've had this once, it was put on too soon after I'd showered. I rang and said it had come off and they replaced it :) I always put a tagaderm plaster over the top now, at £48 I don't want to be replacing them and it helps if I want to go swimming or a nice long bath!

    Insulin after surgery

hi all I've just had major surgery on my abdomen and have been instructed to rest as much as possible for the next 2 weeks.......I'm literally moving to go to the toilet and walk to the table. My blood sugars have started to raise, presumably as I'm not burning off any energy. Do you think...

    Depression, Diabetes and social interaction.

Hi Mark :) This is going to sound so cliched but bear with me!!! Recognising that this is happening is the greatest step, so many men have an issue in admitting depression that you should be super proud of yourself for having the courage to step forward and talk about it. I dont have any...

    Travel!

Hey lovely, We went to mexico in half term and my blood sugars were no different and the same in america the previous year. Its obviously sensible to monitor lots but I find this more relevant to differing foods and being unsure of carb quantities than the heat, I'm sure youll be fine. Just...

    Morning hangover feeling

I just found this after reading another thread, I don't know if it helps to explain more normal readings when you wake up: "The dawn phenomenon is a natural rise in blood glucose between 4 and 8 a.m., which happens because of hormonal changes in the body. All people have the “dawn phenomenon,”...

    Morning hangover feeling

Haha!! I know, I havnt been obscenely drunk since being diagnosed! As with the person above, since using the libre i can see that I drop more in the night than I could have ever anticipated but when I wake up my sugars are still within range. Its weird! but for whatever reason my body does...

    Morning hangover feeling

Sometimes you can hypo and not realise it, for me a huge headache is my main indicator. When I wake afterwards my sugars are always in range. I know I've hypo'd though xx

    Morning hangover feeling

I would guess your blood sugars are dropping in the night and your having a hypo. Maybe set your alarm for 2am and check to see how you're doing :)
