    Totally paranoid

Mine was 8.5%. Found this forum, went LCHF diet, and dropped it to 5.9% in three months. Also lost 25 pounds. No meds. You can do this.

    questions

I was prediabetic for about 5 years. A1c always seemed to be 5.9% - 6.1%. I figured it was fine and wasn't going to get any worse anytime soon. Then it shot up to 8.5% and I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. I quickly got it back down to 5.9% and I hope to get it down around 5.0%. That...

Still fairly new.....and still trying to come to terms with this

Great news!! Glad you are feeling better. I am still dealing with the same problems, but they do seem to be a little more intermittent now. Maybe it is starting to back off. I have been taking ALA, also some B vitamins, although my B12 levels were normal when tested. My A1C was at 5.9% two...

How long does it take for beta cells to regenerate

Someone else can probably explain it better, but essentially there is too much fat in the liver. Your liver enzymes (via blood test) will be elevated. Good news is it can be remedied quickly with weight loss usually. Pancreas supposedly takes longer. Not sure on your brother since it doesn't...

Anyone else have pain with lowering of blood sugars?

Any better today? I played golf yesterday, and my fingers were stinging all evening. Not nearly as bad today. Can't figure it out.

Anyone else have pain with lowering of blood sugars?

Happened to me too. Diagnosed in April. Quickly lowered A1C from 8.5% to 6.3% in 6 weeks. Pain started then. No pain at diagnosis.

    Burning Feet

I didn't have any symptoms upon diagnosis. 6 weeks later after lowering BG levels I started having burning feet. No numbness. Pulse rate to feet is good. I don't know.

    Painful neuropathy & exercise.

Good to hear! It has been a month for me now. Feet feel a little better lately, but I just took a walk and it seemed to fire them up again! ****.....I hope this subsides soon. My A1c is now down to 5.9%. Hoping to reach 5.5% within the next couple of months.

How many have actually reversed neuropathy?

Wow, that's good news! And it was quick!

    Diet drinks.

So I can continue to drink Diet DP? :)

    Diet drinks.

Some say the aspartame in diet drinks causes neuro problems. There may be some truth to that.

How many have actually reversed neuropathy?

I know I have read a few stories here. How many have had it go away completely, or have at least seen significant improvement? What was the key for those that have?

I think I have neuropathy symptoms

Did your symptoms start before or after dropping your BG levels? Any improvement?

Still fairly new.....and still trying to come to terms with this

Yes, I need to update. I am Type 2. Was diagnosed with a1c level of 8.5%. Dropped it down to 6.3% in 6 weeks going low carb diet. Lost 20 pounds. Started having problems in feet after lowering numbers. Quickly spread to both hands. Seems to be happening much faster than typical...

    Tingling in hands and feet

Welcome! I'm also new here, and you will find a lot of support here. It's a great group. My story is similar to yours, except I am T2. I was diagnosed in early April. I dropped my levels quickly like you have done. It was only after dropping my levels that I got the tingling in feet and...

Still fairly new.....and still trying to come to terms with this

So I went to my GP yesterday. Easily passed the monofilament test on my feet. Pulse rate at all extremities was good. Still having some burning feelings in feet. Went out to the farm last night and did some work. A couple of hours of working a lot with hands. As I drove home, I felt both...

    Very worried

I agree with the others. Seems like an odd reading.

What timescale is classed as early diagnosis

I was diagnosed at 8.5% recently. I know less than a year ago I was at 6.2%. Never higher prior to that. Even though my number was higher, maybe it would still be considered early? I don’t know. Back to 6.2% now and looking to join 5% club soon.

Sorry to hear you are going through this as well. It’s so frustrating. Not sure why this is happening so quick, and happening after bringing BG numbers down. Maybe there are more here who have experienced this and recovered.

    Is it possible?

Mine was similar to yours it sounds like. I had trouble reading documents, text messages on phone, etc. My long distance sight seemed unchanged. After a few days, I started getting periods of time when it cleared up, and then it would come back. Each day the periods of time it was clear...
