    Diet sodas

No carbs and no sugar. Doesn't raise my blood sugar at all. However, some say they make you hungry. I'm starting to think this is true. Need to break this habit. Thoughts?

In shock - HbA1c reading down to 40. In remission?

I read the article and it is an interesting debate on the biggest factor (low carb vs weight loss). I agree with the article and that the switch to low carb can yield fast results, but I think the weight loss is also important. After diagnosis, I went low carb and dropped my weight from 225...

In shock - HbA1c reading down to 40. In remission?

Sounds like it to me! What change did you make to your diet? Low carb? Did you lose weight? Well done!

    Numbness and tingling in feet

A few things. First of all you mention anemia, so it might be you have low B12 levels. Also, you mention it is mainly just one foot if I read correctly. Finally, it sounds like you were just at prediabetic levels, and have corrected that. Good chance this is not neuropathy.

Dr Sarah Hallberg - very sad news

That's terrible news. Really like her.

    Stiffness in hands in morning

I also notice my hands go numb quicker when holding things (like a cell phone). The numbness is quickly relieved when I switch hands. Maybe I'm just getting older......I don't know.

    Stiffness in hands in morning

Anyone else get this? Hands are stiff in the morning. Takes about 15 minutes to start feeling normal. Is this diabetes related? Maybe more likely arthritis?

    High fasting normal Hba1c

I think you can, but it takes time. For some, fasting morning blood sugar is the last to normalize. I'm certainly no expert on this! Perhaps others can weigh in. Sounds like you are on the right track!

    High fasting normal Hba1c

When you say fasting numbers, I assume you are talking about morning fasting number? Mine is almost always a little higher than say middle of the afternoon numbers, and I have a normal A1C. Probably just dawn phenomenon.

    Type 2 Nuts

Walnuts are good. I seem to be able to tolerate peanuts ok....which are my favorite.

    Fizzy drinks.

I can certainly relate. I used to drink several Cokes a day. I now drink Coke Zero and Diet DP. They don't raise my blood sugar, but I still plan to cut back on them.

    Let's play a positivity game...

Rather have done this without becoming diabetic, but it did force me totally change my diet. Cut the carbs way back. Has worked great so far.

    Newly diagnosed today

Using the American system, I was at 8.5% last April. 5.9% 3 months later. 5.2% 3 months later, and 5.2% 3 months after that. No meds, just a total change in diet. I didn't go full keto, but very low carb. Probably around 40 to 50 carbs a day. Lost 30 pounds. I now eat around 80 carbs a...

    Newly diagnosed today

You can fix this. I got diagnosed about a year ago. Had normal A1C levels within 3 or 4 months.

    Can this happen ?

Have you lost weight? Perhaps you have less liver and pancreas fat now and both are working better.

    Dawn phenomenon

I don't know what is typical, but my morning fasting glucose is almost always higher than my late afternoon. I was diagnosed a year ago. My A1C has been in the normal range for about 8 months now. The only number I have that is a little high is my morning fasting reading.

Milk causes a rise in blood sugar for me, but it is a fairly mild rise.

    Anyone else get muscle twitching?

Thanks for all of the feedback guys! Hoping I can get this figured out. I have tried tons of magnesium, but without much effect. Maybe it’s a different mineral.....but all my bloods tested normal.

If I'm going to be naughty, when should that be?

For me, I do much better in the evening than morning. (Can handle more carbs then)
