Has anybody done ‘7 minute workout challenge’?

Just to record this so I don’t forget. Ran 40 mins hill rep yesterday before lunch. Prior BG was <5.4 and after was 6.5. So another moderate increase in BG when exercising before meal. BG after dinner was 5.8 and this morning fasting BG was a new low 4.6. Not sure the low fasting was a result...

Prediabetes & NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme

I went to the first session of our local Diabetes Prevention Programme last week (run by ICS). They are fortnightly so next week is the session 2. I’m still debating whether I want to go to the second session or not at the moment. I didn’t actually learn much new stuff from the first session...

Whole grain bread and apple setback - help!

I said it didn’t make sense because I can’t be sure to myself ‘how’ things interact. I can believe that they do, just not sure of the details makes me less than 100% committed to the theory. Nothing - it’s just my scientific head playing with me ( an engineer). Yes definitely to the point that...

Has anybody done ‘7 minute workout challenge’?

Did a 10k race this morning but didn’t have the chance to test before hand but it was 3 hours after a low carb breakfast so I expected it to be relatively low ~6ish based on past data. After the race it was 8.1. So it is true that a long and strenuous workout can increase blood glucose. I...

Whole grain bread and apple setback - help!

I took an apple on its own and globose before and after was only 0.5 up. And I have taken a slice of bread with other non carb stuff and my BG was only raised slightly by a similar amount. It’s interesting you mentioned food interacting negatively. It’s either the interaction (to me it doesn’t...

Low carb diet helped my IBS - yeah!

Just to add I think my itchy skin problem has disappeared too! [emoji847]. I’ve always had dry and itchy skin especially in the winter. I used to scratch so hard I couldn’t sleep. I’ve not noticed it at all since BG levels are lower. Another big Yes for the low carb ‘lifestyle’. I wish I had...

Whole grain bread and apple setback - help!

Ha! My apple is 198grams that’s 20g carbs on its own - no wonder the high spike!

HB1AC changed again in 12 days

I don’t have any constructive advices for you as I’ve only recently enrolled onto the diabetes prevention programme. Do you mind me asking a few stupid beginners questions? Do they test you for hba1c at the end of diabetes prevention programme? I thought you need a blood test for that. Did they...

Has anybody done ‘7 minute workout challenge’?

Here is another experiment result - Had ~20g carb in lunch Measured BG 7.7 1 hour later Went for a 30min comfortable run (slightly sweating) BG 4.9 Half hour later (2 hours after meal) BG 5.2 So if I ignored the small rebounce or overshoot I get a BG reduction of 2.5 after a 30 mins run. So it...

Has anybody done ‘7 minute workout challenge’?

Thanks for sharing your experience. You are right it’s great contrast to long runs/walks. I guess the best thing is just to do both. In my mind the short intense core work is a bit like a resistance training. I’ve noticed my strength has increased a lot recently. I put that down to higher...

Has anybody done ‘7 minute workout challenge’?

Update - Ate about 20g of carb for lunch. 1 hour later BG 7.2 Did 7 mins workout challenge BG 5.7 2 hour after meal BG 6.0 So the benefit of short and intense exercise after meal is obvious to me. What’s not so obvious is the slight increase about 45 mins after the excercise. But I could...

    Diagnosed pre diabetic

I was also a new prediabetes. I’m also lean with bmi just 19.1. Your typical day of food intake is very similar to mine. I worked out carbs was my main problem. I decided to cut carbs down but like you I don’t want to lose weight. The advice on this great forum was that I increase my fat intake...

Low carb diet helped my IBS - yeah!

That’s possibly true as well - I used to eat a lot of wheat ( and rice). Thanks about the book I’ll have a read when have a chance.

Low carb diet helped my IBS - yeah!

Definitely leave that tiger alone [emoji1]! I noticed it was sweet fruit that was triggering my problem. Only realised it now I’ve eliminated from my diet. [emoji1]. Who would have thought ‘healthy’ fruits were causing me problems?

Low carb diet helped my IBS - yeah!

Great to hear that you’ve had similar experience. I wish I knew about the low carb benefits earlier! I’m referred for a consultant to look at my ibs but still waiting for an appointment. I’ll ask the consultant then but I’m not as desperate as I was!

Low carb diet helped my IBS - yeah!

I’m still relatively new with low carb and am still experimenting with different food’s effect. However it appears that my 20+ years of IBS had finally been controlled. At the moment I haven’t had an episode of diarrhoea at all since the start of low carb (~2 weeks ago). I’ve tried everything I...
